NICOLE KIDMAN GOT WHAT SHE WANTED

Nicole Kidman recently revealed to Vogue’s Off the Cuff (an online interview feature) that one of the only wardrobe items she wishes she had kept over the years were the glasses her character wore in the film, Eyes Wide Shut. Unfortunately, the round metal framed Olivier Peoples glasses have been discontinued, but a quick thinking representative from the eyeglass company found a pair in their archives and shipped them to Nicole in Nashville. According to my source, Nicole was overjoyed at the gesture and sent a lavish basket of culinary goodies to the company as a thank you.

NICOLE KIDMAN: BAD HAIR DAY

Nice to see that even Nicole Kidman has an occasional BAD HAIR DAY. Of course Nicole never has a bad FACE day, so a minor hair struggle is no big thing. The Big Little Lies star does change her looks a lot – back and forth from red hair to blonde hair and straight and curly hair. Bad hair day or not- Nicole is always polite to paparazzi. Here she was captured with Keith, visiting her mother in Sydney.

NICOLE KIDMAN ACTUALLY LOOKS A LOT LIKE LUCY

Everybody’s been talking about how Nicole Kidman bears little resemblance to Lucille Ball, the character she’s playing in Being the Ricardos. In fact, Nicole is a natural redhead with curly hair – just like Lucille. And she has the same tall model figure that Lucy had. In this photo she’s wearing a wig and we hope it looks real up close. A movie can be totally ruined right from the beginning if a character is wearing an obvious wig. If we spot a wig in a film we cannot get into the story- it’s all about the wig. THAT’s how important hair experts are on a set. We wonder if Nicole will have those strangely drawn on lips that Lucy had…

CASTING CALL FOR FRED AND ETHEL MERTZ

Nice to hear that Aaron Sorkin has written and is directing a feature film about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz called Being the Ricardos and it looks like Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem will be starring. Lucy and Desi filmed 180 episodes (that’s a LOT!) of the hit show I Love Lucy for the six seasons it ran in the early 50’s. It was one of the all-time most successful series on TV, and Aaron’s script deals with one production week of the show in which two devastating events occurred threatening the couple’s careers and their marriage. Interesting that Nicole and Javier are neither American or Cuban. What we want to know is: Who will play Fred and Ethel Mertz? Any suggestions?

CAN JULIA ROBERTS FILL NICOLE KIDMAN’S SHOES?

It’s been tough since the final episode of The Undoing aired. We were so totally immersed in the story about Nicole Kidman’s character’s life with her questionable husband (played by High Grant ) that we feel a sense of loss now that it’s over! In many series, a two hour story seems to be stretched out to fill six hours with pointless scenes added just for length. Every episode of The Undoing was gripping and important. But there is a glimmer of hope. Julia Roberts has just closed a deal for a limited series, The Last Thing He Told Me, with Reese Witherspoon’s company producing. It’s based on a female-authored book that hasn’t been released yet about a woman who forms an unexpected relationship with her teenage stepdaughter while searching for the truth behind her husband’s disappearance. (Another protagonist with a questionable husband!) Nice to see more women involved in productions that appeal to women.

DON’T MISS NICOLE KIDMAN’S THE UNDOING

We read a few meh reviews on Nicole Kidman’s HBO drama The Undoing so we were REALLY surprised when the first episode pulled us right IN. LOVED it. Better than Big Little Lies. We went back to look at the reviews again and were not surprised to see they were written by men. Maybe this is a story women appreciate more, but we can really identify with Nicole’s New York character and can hardly WAIT for next installment. Hugh Grant plays her questionable husband, who seemed so cool in the beginning. Every week opens with a woozy verson of the old song Dream a Little Dream of Me and it turns out, Nicole is doing the singing in this theme song. Makes sense, Nicole did sing in Moulin Rouge

NICOLE, MARGOT, CHARLIZE: UNITED THEY STAND

This is an exceptional photo of the three very different stars of Bombshell: Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, and Charlize Theron. These women are as dissimilar as their apparel, but they had a mutual goal in making this film: telling an important story. This version of the revolting Roger Ailes at Fox News scandal buried the Showtime miniseries with Russell Crowe – probably because the WOMEN were the main characters. Three very accomplished actresses shared the screen time –they all knew it was extremely important to detail exactly what happened at Fox in order to change future behavior. Charlize Theron is the female Christian Bale when it comes to assuming a new look and personality for a role – her metamorphosis into Megyn Kelly is astonishing.

GIVE “THE GOLDFINCH” A CHANCE

The Goldfinch was given negative reviews (mostly by jaded male critics, we presume) that drastically affected its boxoffice this weekend and we are here to defend this exquisite film. Sure, it’s a little too long, but the content more than makes up for it. Just take your time. This film builds very slowly and it sneaks up on the viewer – you find yourself identifying with the main character and literally feeling what he feels. It starts out a little sad and scary, but ends up filled with optimism. A very sensitive, fascinating and plausible story- altogether an satisfying experience. Give it a chance. We walked out feeling like we just read an excellent book…

NICOLE KIDMAN’S PERFECT LIFE EVAPORATES IN “THE UNDOING”

Nicole Kidman is looking particularly gorgeous here as she films the HBO limited series The Undoing with Hugh Grant. We are really looking forward to this story because it’s about a WOMAN with problems. Nicole plays a successful therapist in NYC with a devoted oncologist husband and a young son – she has a perfect life. Suddenly, violent things happen and her husband disappears. She is horrified by shocking revelations when her missing husband’s past is scrutinized. Nicole’s character is upset by the clues she missed, and she is forced to start a whole new life. Kidman is producing and it will be directed by a woman!
