New Year’s Eve

ZAC EFRON AND MICHELLE PFEIFFER: TOGETHER AGAIN

Zac Efron, 23, and his “Hairspray” costar Michelle Pfeiffer, 52, are reunited in their currently filming movie “New Year’s Eve.” It’s about a group of single people and couples in New York whose lives intersect on New Years Eve. (The same idea as last year’s “Valentines Day” except it doesn’t take place in LA and has mostly a different ensemble cast.) Zac plays a delivery guy with a Vespa who takes Michelle for a ride.

SANDRA BULLOCK AND RYAN REYNOLDS: WHERE THERE’S SMOKE THERE’S FIRE

There’s a whole lot of denying going on concerning the relationship of Ryan Reynolds and his “The Proposal” costar Sandra Bullock. They’ve been seen together in Austin more than once (including New Years Eve) and Ryan reportedly stayed at Sandra’s house there. Both sides insist it’s a platonic friendship and divorced Sandra is consoling Ryan over HIS divorce. How many straight men fly across the country to spend New Years Eve with a PLATONIC female friend? Get real. Not many straight men even HAVE attractive female platonic friends without “benefits.” Whatever happens, we do love seeing them together.

WHERE WERE ROB PATTINSON AND KRISTEN STEWART ON NEW YEAR’S EVE?

This is the second New Years Eve in a row that Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart spent together at a modest UK pub on the Isle of Wight. Partiers who saw them last year at the Spyglass Inn hoped they’d come back, but could hardly believe it when the Twilight stars walked through the door. The pair was very casual – dressed in black- and low key as they celebrated with friends and posed for photos with fans. They went outside to look at the sea for awhile. It was as far from a glitzy Las Vegas night as you can get.

NEW YEAR’S EVE: KESHA’S BOY DANCERS UPSTAGE HER

Kesha performed on the Dick Clark/Ryan Seacrest New Year’s Eve show and she looks more interesting than usual, but it’s the male dancer behind her that caught our eyes. His bustier, distressed tux shirt, and man-size fishnets are definitely hot. She sang her new song “We R Who We R” and it makes us think of Prince.

WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY, BEYONCE GOT THE LAST LAUGH ON LADY GAGA

We thought Lady Gaga cleaned up on New Year’s Eve, pulling in $300,000 for her Fontainebleau show in Miami, but that’s not the case. Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich paid 1.7 million dollars for entertainment at HIS New Year’s bash in St Barts – Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, and Prince, each raked in over a half million dollars to perform for 250 guests at Abramovich’s 90 million dollar St Barts estate. The whole party cost FIVE million dollars. According to the NY Post, this is the same guy who ran up a tab of over $47,000 for ten people for a meal at a New York restaurant.

ANDERSON COOPER AND KATHY GRIFFIN REALLY LIKE EACH OTHER

What a surprise- Anderson Cooper showed up at The House of Blues in LA (with an unidentified woman.). His CNN New Year’s Eve show with Kathy Griffin was a big success. When the usually chatty Kathy is asked about rumors of Anderson’s sexual orientation she clams up. Is she giving him a free pass? Kathy says Cooper wants to deliver the news, not BE the news, and she agrees with that. So there. And of course, she is already booked to do New Years Eve again next year with Cooper.

Las Vegas is hurting partly because a lot of Hollywood party people have taken off for Australia for New Year’s Eve. It’s a new exciting destination – the weather is warm and the economy isn’t bad. Paris Hilton cashed in on the new trend – she’s being paid A MILLION DOLLARS to host a giant rave party on the beach there with numerous bands and ten thousand people expected. The whole event will be streamed live around the world. Australian tourism is sponsoring the big budget soiree.

Above, Mario Lopez just walked out of the theater after seeing Katie Holmes in “All My Sons” in New York. If your idea of heaven is to be able to kiss Mario at midnight on New Year’s Eve, you might get lucky. He’s hosting the NYE bash at Marquee in New York and $165 (joonbug.com) will get you in the door. He’s never been one to deny his fans kisses.
