John Travolta’s myopic move to hand the MTV award to drag queen Jade Jolie (who appeared in Taylor Swift’s video) instead of the REAL Taylor Swift, accidentally made Jolie an overnight sensation. Jade was basically known only to RuPaul’s Drag Race fans and today he’s all over the internet. All this notoriety can’t help but boost sales at Jade’s drag shows…
The guy who passed himself off to The Enquirer as Philip Seymour Hoffman’s “gay lover” is in a HEAP of trouble. The guys name is David Katz and he said that many publications called him on Super Bowl Sunday because Hoffman’s friend David Bar Katz, had found the actor’s body. The fake Katz, who lives in New Jersey, told the NY Post he drank a lot that day and didn’t remember everything he said! The Enquirer believed he was the real Katz and printed the gay story. (We wonder if they paid him.) After all, the guy did have the same name! Of course we know that ended in a lawsuit, apology, and settlement. But the REAL David Bar Katz is now threatening to sue the fake Katz and the imposter insists he never told anyone his name was David Bar Katz. Crazy situation.

There’s another 6’2” lanky blonde model giving Ireland Baldwin a run for her money at Coachella. It happens to be Andrej Pejic, the androgynous sensation of the fashion world. Andrej has worked the runway in both men’s and women’s shows in Paris and appeared in numerous magazine layouts. Judging by how girlie Andrej looks, we can imagine all sorts of “oops” scenarios at Coachella with those drunk guys.
Cher was perplexed, not insulted, recently when she was shopping in Harrods with her assistant and someone mistook her for another singer – Pete Burns. (She was in London promoting Burlesque) Pete, as our readers know, was lead singer of the 80’s pop band Dead or Alive (“You Spin Me Round”) but since then has become addicted to plastic surgery. When she was mistaken for Pete, Cher laughingly turned to her assistant and said “Who IS this guy? Is he famous? It’s happening a lot.” Presumably by now she has figured out who Pete is, and is no longer laughing.
For some people, the most amusing thing about the Emmys was the misidentification of Alyssa Milano. On the red carpet Alyssa was credited with wearing the worst outfit of the night and it wasn’t even HER! (photo right) An actress named Christina de Rosa was sporting the white confection and did nothing to correct the case of mistaken identity. The next day Alyssa’s publicist cleared up the mistake and Alyssa (photo left) had a sense of humor about it. She told John Carney on KMOX, “You know you’ve made it big when you can be on the worst dressed list for the Emmys without even showing up!”
