Diane Lane

JOSH BROLIN IS GETTING SOBER TO WIN HIS WIFE DIANE LANE BACK

We think there’s definitely some truth to the National Enquirer’s claim that Barbra Streisand pushed her stepson Josh Brolin into checking into rehab. Josh’s wife Diane Lane (who could ever forget her in “Unfaithful” with Richard Gere and Halle Berry’s husband Olivier Martinez at his hottest!) filed for divorce earlier this year and it finalized today. Streisand is married to Josh’s dad James, and she’s very fond of Diane. Certainly she gave James an earful when Josh’s drunken antics appeared all over the internet. Finally Josh realized he was making a fool of himself and now he’s trying to get help. His goal is to win his wife Diane back. It would be nice. We shall see. (Above, Josh looking a little scary in “Labor Day” with Kate Winslet.)

THE LOUD FAMILY REVISITED THANKS TO HBO

All the “Real Housewives” owe a debt of gratitude to the Loud family who paved the way for reality TV back in the 1970’s. In those days PBS called “An >American Family” a documentary series in 12 parts. The Louds of Santa Barbara were the first American family to be the subject of a reality show. It was unscripted and during the run of the series, Pat and Bill Loud separated and divorced, and their openly gay son Lance not only took his mother to a drag show in the second episode, but he move to the Chelsea Hotel in New York and ran with the Warhol crowd. It was riveting television and worth revisiting. HBO’s “Cinema Verite” tells the story of the filming of the documentary and Diane Lane plays mother Pat in awful 70’s glasses, Tim Robbins plays dad Bill, and Thomas Dekker plays young Lance. (We were lucky to know and adore Lance for years.)

Diane Lane is in New York promoting “Nights In Rodanthe” and it’s a movie she can be proud of. Diane has a legion of female fans who love her romantic movies like “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “Unfaithful.” She and Richard Gere live up to all the sentimental expectations in Rodanthe. They first costarred in “The Cotton Club” 24 years ago. As one reviewer said “It’s nice to see two good looking mature faces that haven’t been carved up.”
