In spite of having a strained relationship through the years, Oprah Winfrey came to the rescue of her father Vernon when he made a bad real estate decision. Vernon had operated his barbershop in Nashville for 50 years when his latest wife Barbara pushed him to buy a new building, renovate it and move the shop. A year later Vernon found himself unable to keep up with the mortgage payments and the building went into foreclosure. When the bank auctioned it off on Friday, Oprah paid $475.000 for the building and her father will continue to run his business. Instead of being grateful, Vernon’s wife Barbara lashed out at Oprah because that cut HER out of part ownership. Vernon did the right thing and filed for divorce shortly after.
