The upcoming Oscars might be a tad LESS glamorous since my source says the Academy is reading the room and realizing that with wars raging around the world, now might not be the best time for an over the top display of excess. While the after parties will likely be as decadent as usual, the glitz of the ceremony, including the red carpet, is being tweaked to not appear tone deaf during a global crisis. Timothee really blew it as far as lovers of opera and ballet go. Is his world so small that he only sees what’s in his own mirror??

I guess you only saw a clip of his remarks out of context? He does not ~literally think that “no one cares” about ballet and opera. He fumbled his wording, but that was very obviously hyperbolic in that the effort to gain audiences has mostly fallen on deaf ears. All he was trying to say was that he doesn’t want film to become niche like ballet and opera. He spoke recently about how several classic ballet dancers inspired his performance in Marty Supreme (for the ping pong scenes) and has several family members who’ve worked in ever profession.
