Just because you’re cute, doesn’t mean you can get away with dressing like a clown and not be called out for it! Paula Abdul has kept her youthful looks and figure, but something horrible happened when she went shopping for an outfit to wear to the Power of Love gala in Las Vegas! What WAS she thinking? There is nothing right about this tacky, ruffly, too-short, glittery monstrosity! It looks like an Ice Capades costume from the seventies. And those tired extensions aren’t doing her any favors, either. Oh, and the matching feathery SHOES! Almost beyond belief…

What’s up with Paula Abdul? She has never looked better – but we rarely see her any more! Paula, 55, has a history of odd or extreme behavior. She has always complained about back injuries and other severe pain but swore she didn’t use drugs – as many observers suspected. But them she gave a magazine interview and admitted she used many painkillers and hinted she went to rehab. Later she denied the entire magazine story. Last we heard, her health had improved – and she looks it.

Paula Abdul arrived at the very trendy Chateau Marmont looking like she doesn’t know what year it is. Her outfit isn’t vulgar or loud, just unflattering. The bowtied blouse is rather mature and conservative and mismatched with her puffy stiff miniskirt. It would have looked much better with a longer slim skirt. The whole get-up makes tiny Paula look short and stout and doesn’t do a thing for her. Her shoes can be described as uninteresting at best. We know you can do better, Paula!

Paula Abdul has had her ups and downs, but it’s evident that she is currently enjoying an “up” in her personal life. She has NEVER looked better! Simon Cowell would faint. About a month ago a friend of ours saw Paula having brunch with an attractive date in Beverly Hills and remarked that she looked amazing. Last night she proved he was right when she appeared at The Music Center 50th Anniversary Spectacular looking flawless.

American Idol producers have seen the writing on the wall (the ratings dip) and they plan to end the show gracefully next season. They want the ORIGINAL judges from the first season together again for the final season – Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell. That way they can end the show the way it began. Randy, the only original judge still on Idol, is perfectly willing to stay for another year, and Paula is totally up for it. Simon, of course, is playing hard to get – partly because he’s currently on The X-Factor, and partly because he likes to be difficult.

Is anybody else surprised that Britney Spears is worth TWICE the price of Gwen Stefani? Simon Cowell is desperate to save his disappointing “X Factor” show and he’s paying top dollar to restaff. He’s heard that NBC is planning to schedule their huge hit “The Voice” as his competition and THAT could be fatal. He dumped Paula Abdul, who pulled in 2.5 million, and he’s replacing her with Britney Spears for over 15 million dollars. Now he’s hot to add Gwen Stefani to be backstage host, replacing Steve Jones, and her price tag is estimated at 5 to 7 million. – HALF of Britney’s. We’re thinking that Britney‘s appeal is her potentially unpredictable behavior, while Gwen has the glam factor. It sounds like Simon has very deep pockets.

Paula Abdul is in fighting shape to start her new TV career as a judge on “X Factor” (Above left.) She’s looking very svelte and her arms are particularly slim. We heard she had some laser treatments called Titan on her skin, including her arms, to tighten it up and apparently it worked. She looks better than ever.

“Live To Dance” is not the show Paula Abdul hoped it would be. Ratings started off okay but they nose dived, and the finale had only 4.8 million viewers. There seemed to be nothing new or special about the show and it never created a buzz. Insiders say CBS is pulling the plug on season 2. Now that Paula’s unemployed, will Simon offer her a place on X Factor?

Paula Abdul is more than ready to start judging dancers instead of singers on her new CBS show “Live to Dance.” Above she was photographed leaving the auditions in New York, and on her way to Los Angeles where auditions began today in Burbank. She seems really happy that contestants have few limitations- they can be of any age, group or solo – and excel at any kind of dancing. Who needs American Idol, anyway?
