CHARLIZE THERON DIDN’T GIVE SUPERMAN A TUMBLE

AG078843_01charcut

It’s not so bad being single. Charlize Theron walked out of the Jimmy Kimmel show on Hollywood Boulevard, looking carefree with the one man she can depend on – her little boy Jackson. She didn’t even notice Superman behind her, trying in vain to get her attention.

SOFIA VERGARA: HOW HAPPY CAN YOU GET?

Has anyone EVER looked more delighted to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Sofia Vergara can’t contain her joy. Her Modern Family costars were there for the ceremony – as well as her own family, including fiancée Joe Manganiello. Mercifully absent was her vindictive former fiancée Nick Loeb who might have ruined the event if he’d shown up waving a test tube.

It’s always nice to see someone who really DESERVES it, get a star on the Walk of Fame. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz was “discovered” by Quentin Tarantino (above left) and received an Oscar for his memorable role in “Inglourious Basterds.” His “Django Unchained” costar Samuel L. Jackson (above right) also showed his support at the ceremony. You can next see Christoph in “Big Eyes” which is coming out at Christmas.

MAMIE VAN DOREN’S AMAZING HOLLYWOOD ADVENTURES

This is the perfect book to read on vacation at the beach if you love Hollywood: Mamie Van Doren’s “Playing the Field.” She was kind enough to send us a copy and we couldn’t put it down! Gorgeous Mamie was one of the triumvirate of platinum blonde glamour girls that ruled the silver screen in the 50’s and 60’s in Hollywood. Mamie was friendly with her “competition” Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, but she was the only bombshell to survive in the long run. We loved her “bad girl” movies like “Untamed Youth” And “Running Wild.” Mamie’s adventures in Hollywood and encounters with guys like Tony Curtis, Elvis Presley, Rock Hudson, Nicky Hilton, Steve Cochran, and assorted athletes, are detailed and fascinating. She recalls exciting evenings nightclubbing at Ciro’s and twisting at the Whiskey a Go Go. This woman lived through it all and doesn’t hesitate to share. Thanks, Mamie.

COURTNEY STODDEN TOOK HER IMPLANTS FOR A WALK IN HOLLYWOOD

Teen vixen Courtney Stodden is disappointed that her new DD implants aren’t getting her enough attention. Not ONE magazine cover! So she and her husband Doug Hutchison took a walk on Hollywood Boulevard, hoping to cause a stir. Unfortunately, girls that look like Courtney are not so uncommon on Hollywood Blvd so she might have gotten more attention in Beverly Hills, if you know what we mean.

AT LAST! SOMEONE WHO DESERVES TO BE ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME!

We’ve grown so accustomed to borderline celebrities being added to the Walk of Fame that it’s almost a shock when a bona fide MOVIE STAR adds his hand and foot prints to the cement. Robert DeNiro has softened up with age – there was a time when he would rather have died than be involved in such a public display in Hollywood. After all, he was a serious New York actor. He craved privacy, not adoration. But he’s grown up and become a more public figure and perhaps more grateful. He is a real MOVIE STAR like the James Stewarts and Carole Lombards of yesteryear and we are glad to have him. (Above, Grace Hightower gives her husband a smooch.)

DEBBIE REYNOLDS WAVES GOODBYE TO A LIFETIME COLLECTION, BUT SHE’S IN THE MONEY NOW!

Debbie Reynolds’ Hollywood costume auction this weekend was a roller coaster of emotional ups and downs. It was nice to see Debbie solving her financial problems after being robbed blind by not one, but two good-for-nothing husbands. But it was undeniably sad to see her dream of opening a Hollywood museum go up in smoke. She acquired most of her massive collection at the big MGM sale around 40 years ago and has been storing and caring for them ever since. Sadder still is the fact that most of the collectibles were purchased by foreigners and will be taken out of the country. A Saudi Arabian voice on the phone paid 4.6 million for Marilyn Monroe’s white “Seven Year Itch” subway dress. A man from a Japanese museum quietly purchased Judy Garland’s “Wizard of Oz” dress and ruby sequin slippers for $910,000 and $510,000. One of our personal favorites- Joan Crawford’s waitress uniform from “Mildred Pierce” only pulled in $22,500- maybe THAT will stay in the US.

KOBE BRYANT DOESN’T BELONG ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME

A great injustice against Hollywood has been perpetrated by the owner of Grauman’s Chinese Theater or the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce – they allowed basketball player Kobe Bryant to add his handprints to the cement in front of Grauman’s . HELLO – Grauman’s and the Walk of Fame are intended for performers, writers, movie makers, and people in show business! What the heck is going ON here? Kobe is NOT an actor. Why should his prints share space with Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, and Bette Davis? Wouldn’t his prints be more appropriate outside of the Staples Center? It’s a travesty and a crime.
