NO GUNS FOR ALEC BALDWIN IN HIS NEXT FILM

Alec Baldwin will be back in front of the camera as soon as the SAG/AFTRA strikes ends, because  he’s set to star in Kent State about the 1970 Vietnam War protests and shooting. An insider revealed that once Alec signed on for his role, the script was tweaked so his character won’t handle a gun. It seemed like the right thing to do since Alec was involved in the tragic accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on his last movie, Rust. Although he’s been criminally cleared from that accident, the producers of Kent State decided it wasn’t a good look to have Alec with a gun, so that’s why they rewrote part of the script.

NOW ALEC BALDWIN IS BLAMING MEDIA FOR HIS DILEMMA

About six weeks after the Rust film shooting, Alec Baldwin remarked that he “didn’t pull the trigger” – that the gun went off by itself – surprising everyone. The FBI checked out the weapon and declared that he DID. Alec INSISTS that he is not responsible for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the wounding of director Joel Souza. But Alec is a producer on the film, and HE hired the possibly incompetent armourer (person in charge of set weapons.) Meanwhile, Alec’s wife Hilaria announced she is pregnant with his eighth child. Lawyers doubt that Alec will get jail time, even if he deserves it. But certainly Halyna’s family and probably Joel, will sue Alec for all he’s worth. Recently Alec has been complaining about the LA Times and Hollywood Reporter’s extensive coverage of the event. He thinks they make him look bad…

HOW DID HAROLD SMITH SHOOT RONNI CHASEN FROM A BICYCLE?

Incredulous reporters quizzed the Beverly Hills police at their press conference today – everyone was flabbergasted to hear that the bullets that killed Ronni Chasen match the gun that Harold Smith used to kill himself. Cops theorized that Smith was desperate for money and it was a random robbery gone bad- ON A BICYCLE! LAPD has yet to turn over the bike to the Beverly Hills cops. Harold was certainly a good shot, but why didn’t he grab Ronni’s handbag on the seat next to her? Beverly Hills police played down the fact that they got the Harold Smith lead from America’s Most Wanted who received a call from a tipster. (Presumably the tipster will collect the $125,000 reward.) There are still a LOT of unanswered questions here so don’t put the Beverly Hills cops on a pedestal yet.

EXCUSE ME, IS THAT TONY SOPRANO IN THE GUN DEPARTMENT?

A friend of ours was gazing in the showcase of the gun department at Big 5 Sporting Goods on Wilshire when he became aware of someone’s labored breathing next to him and it sounded oddly familiar. He looked up and the man said with a thick New York accent “They sell guns here?” It was James Gandolfini, clad in sweatpants and sneakers (no gold jewelry.) The Sopranos star and a buddy glanced at the guns, but they drifted over to the knife department and purchased pocket knives.

RIP TORN THOUGHT THE BANK WAS HIS HOUSE

Now it makes some sense. A highly inebriated (twice the legal limit) Rip Torn, 78, was found wandering around inside a Connecticut bank with a loaded gun in his pocket and his fly unzipped. Officers who came in response to the bank alarm found shoes and a hat by the back door, and broken glass next to the door. Torn didn’t understand why troopers showed up to arrest him and put him in handcuffs and kept asking WHY they were taking him away. Here’s the deal: The “Men in Black” star had been drinking at a bar near his home (he walks, since his DUI) and he was so wasted when he left that he mistook the bank for his house. The bank DOES look like a home – it’s in a two story colonial house with an attic. Torn took off his hat and boots at the back door and when his key wouldn’t work, he broke the glass to get in. When troopers arrived he still thought he was at home! He was charged with trespassing, burglary, and firearms counts, after spending the weekend in jail. Last we heard he’s off to rehab.
