BLACK BOOK: THE HIGH PRICE OF SURVIVAL

zwartboek.cutjpgThe Dutch movie Black Book is just about to be released here and we think you should make an effort to see it. It deals with the WWII German occupation of Holland – basically the nazis VS the resistance. Paul Verhoeven directs the enthralling adventures of a clever young Dutch woman who uses her wiles to survive and and the movie makes it clear what war does to people on both sides – neither is immune to evil or good. (We like war movies that are more about people than explosives.) Dutch actress Carice Van Houten had some sexy romantic scenes with German actor Sebastian Koch who played a Nazi, and they fell in love in real life. And they’re still together.

KELIS: WHAT HAPPENED?

Here’s Kelis, looking well behaved, at Hyde the night before she was arrested in South Beach for disorderly conduct. Note she is wearing the Olsen twins favorite shoes. WHY the “Milkshake” singer seemed to go berserk and hurl racial slurs at two undercover cops posing as hookers in Miami, is a mystery. Did they offend her? She in her pink hair – yelling obscenities- caused SUCH a pedestrian and car traffic jam that police stepped in and arrested her. Everyone’s eager to learn the lurid details.

HEATHER LOCKLEAR AND JACK WAGNER: PHYSICAL ATTRACTION

So it’s true. Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner have been seen out together and there was much speculation about whether they are just two single “buddies” or a hot new couple. The pair have been friends since they did Melrose Place together and now it so happens they are both available. Judging by their body language at Mr Chow the other night they are more than just friends. Jack was very touchy feely with Heather and she was acting flirty and coy. Actually, they could pass for brother and sister in the looks department.

CLASH OF THE TITANS

forestchiklisNow that Forest Whitaker has his Oscar for Best Actor, he can look back fondly at the time he spent on The Shield TV series. Last season he played an internal affairs type officer looking for crooked cops on the show. Naturally he clashed with Michael Chiklis’ character who IS a questionable cop. Both actors are former football players and they had a confrontation scene where they had to run and slam into each other. It was carefully choreographed with stuntmen ready to step in, so no one would get hurt. When it was time to film the scene, the two macho guys rushed at each other and instead of veering, they actually COLLIDED at full speed and were both knocked sprawling to the ground. Ouch! (Observers thought the two guys were both too egotistical to duck out of the way- neither would back off) Forest stood up, angry, “We rehearsed this! – what’s wrong with you?” Michael blamed Forest for the pile-up. They took a short break, but there was tension on the set, and the guys just didn’t seem as friendly after that.

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER INVADES SPAGO

Spago had one of it’s most memorable lunchtimes yesterday – Oprah and her book club friends were there, PLUS, purely by coincidence, Dog the Bounty Hunter! No, he wasn’t hot on anybody’s trail, but he sure was an eyeful for other diners. Duane Chapman and his wife Beth were dressed in their usual biker inspired garb and both seemed to have fresh extensions. They are definitely not a tyical Spago lunch couple but that’s what makes Hollywood fun. Our photographer says Duane and Beth were friendly and shook his hand!

ISABELLA AND ALICIA EAT ALIKE

IsabelaliciacutWhat do Isabella Rossellini and Alicia Silverstone have in common? Maybe not much, except for their taste in food. Isabella is in LA for the Roberto Rossellini restrospective at the Billy Wilder Theater in Westwood. (It would have been her father’s 100th birthday.) Isabella dined at Tengu in Westwood and she ordered the grilled vegetable tower with tofu steaks. Exactly the SAME healthy meal that Alicia Silverstone ate there recently, and raved about.

Somehow we can’t get used to the idea that Travis Barker and his buddies like to hang out at Mr Chow in Beverly Hills. Maybe because there are so many society types and business people there. We picture him as more of the Sunset Strip type, but here he comes, again and again…

As she was leaving Stella McCartney on Robertson with a big bag, Janice Dickinson stopped to tell our photographer what she thought of Britney Spears. Janice blurted “I LOVE Britney and I’m glad she dumped that hick husband!” Meanwhile, WE are fairly confident that Ms Dickinson would NOT kick K-Fed out of bed!
