ANDERSON COOPER : CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD!
Anderson Cooper flew his usual route from NYC to LA to work at CNN and the flight was crowded but he managed to get a first class seat. During the flight he happened to notice attendants talking to a very pregnant woman in coach who was obviously uncomfortable in the tight quarters. There were no empty seats to move her to so the chivalrous journalist offered to switch seats with her even though she was in coach. The woman was grateful and flabbergasted. Cooper proceeded to chat politely with his seatmates and he was friendly with the children. He even played with a toddler in the aisle for a few minutes before the flight attendant advised him to take his seat. A few passengers good-naturedly booed her.

Men get away with a myriad of imperfections already, so lets throw a little criticism THEIR way for a change. Right, Melanie? Val Kilmer has changed a lot since he played sexy Jim Morrison in The Doors. It’s funny how years ago when young Val was dating Cher, everybody made a big deal out of their age difference. Now pudgy Val looks older than Cher does. He’s going to eat himself out of a leading man career, if he doesn’t watch out.

There’s gotta be a catch. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne announced recently that tickets for their Ozzfest concerts this summer will be FREE. We’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. Meanwhile Ozzy seems to be shaping up for the July tour – he’s no beauty, but he looks pretty healthy here in Beverly Hills.

HOWARD STERN IS ONE OF THE RICHEST MEN IN NEW YORK
Rich New Yorkers who summer in Southampton are aghast because Howard Stern set a new record by renting a summer home for $800,000 for three months. Howard leased an ultra modern sprawling 6000 square foot mansion with a helipad nearby. It’s believed to be the highest price ever paid for a summer rental there. “Howard raised the bar” commented a realtor who predicts rental prices will soar. Up until now, the highest documented price paid was believed to be $500,000 for the summer. Howard and his fiancee Beth Ostrosky plan to spend as much time there as possible, and Howard’s buddies are already angling for invites.

Simon Cowell a showoff? You must be kidding! Here’s the American Idol mogul leaving The Ivy in his Aston Martin D89 convertible. (This 007 car seems to be every English guy’s dream) It’s just one vehicle from his car collection that includes two Rolls Royces. He eats well and has some sweet rides, now Simon needs to swing over to Maxfield (2 blocks north) and buy some cool clothes. We’re sick of looking at those same old v- neck t shirts and sweaters.

Here’s Courtney Cox and David Arquette putting on pleasant faces after having a little tiff in Il Sole – that expensive Italian restaurant on Sunset Strip. David does look uncomfortable in that conservative blue business suit and necktie – could that be Courtney’s idea? We like him better in those plaid wacky outfits he used to wear. He looked happier.
