ZAYN MALIK: HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION?

Like Jared Leto, Zayn Malik is apparently exhausted from fending off the advances of admiring women, but he has a slightly different – and less successful – method of repelling them. Leto dresses like a mismatched clown. From the neck up, the former One Direction singer does everything he can to downplay his extraordinary good looks. He buzzed his beautiful and abundant hair totally off, grew a beard and acquired spectacles. Does he think girls won’t make passes at guys who wear glasses? DANIEL DAY- LEWIS IS SITTING ON A PARK BENCH WITH A BROKEN ARM

He just announced that he’s retired from acting last June, and already Daniel Day-Lewis, 60, is wiling away the afternoon on a park bench in lower Manhattan. His “final” movie, coming out at Christmas, has already been described as brilliant. It’s called Phantom Thread and it’s the life story of a renowned British fashion couturier, Charles James, who designed clothes for high society and the Royals in the 50’s. The Brits are gleefully speculating that Day-Lewis fell in love with the fashion industry while researching the film and he decided to give up acting to design clothes himself. Anything’s possible. We do know that he broke his arm in a motorcycle accident (not a sewing machine accident) around a week ago.

COURTNEY LOVE HAS HER EYE ON MALE MODEL OF THE YEAR

Never one to pass up an opportunity, Courtney Love turned on the charm for Australian model Jordan Barrett, 20, when both found themselves smoking outside of the Bowery Hotel. Jordan was just named Male Model of the Year for the second year in a row. Last time we saw Courtney was when she played Kitty Menendez in Lifetime’s Menendez: Blood Brothers. Last year Courtney was dating director Nicholas Jarecki and he actually made her hike with him in the hills in LA. We suspect that didn’t last long.

GEORGE CLOONEY DIDN’T NEED ANOTHER REASON TO DISLIKE DONALD TRUMP

George Clooney didn’t need the fact that Donald Trump was actually elected President to dislike him. Clooney not only predicted that Trump would lose the election, but HAS been among the loudest of Trump’s critics. He recently told The Hollywood Reporter about his ONLY personal encounter with Donald Trump:
“I was sitting down at a restaurant in New York [several years ago] and he came in and we talked for a while,” he recalls. “I’d had neck surgery, and he said, ‘I’ll give you the name of a doctor,’ and he wrote me a couple of times with the name. Then he went on Larry King Live and told him I was very short. I’m 5-foot-11 — I’m not the tallest actor in the world, but I’m not short. That made me laugh.”
Laugh? We doubt it- both Trump and Clooney seem to have similar masculine flaws, but we’re Team Clooney.

KRISTEN STEWART HAS MASTERED THE ART OF DISTRACTION

If Kristen Stewart wants people NOT to notice her, she chose the right girlfriend. Since she filmed the Twilight series, Kristen has been neurotically trying to stay OUT of the limelight – she scurries about in hats and hoods, always looking at the ground. But after she started dating Victoria’s Secret Angel Stella Maxwell, all eyes are fixated on the striking model and Kristen kind of fades away. Both 27, they‘ve been together for nine months and Stella has moved into Kristen’s LA home. And when she’s out with Stella, Kristen doesn’t have to skulk in corners as much.

STEVEN TYLER: HE WALKS THAT WAY

Looks like Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 69, has been raiding his daughter Liv Tyler’s closet again. He turned up at a celebrity event in Rome wearing this Diane Von Furstenberg inspired white cotton wrap dress over pants and sneakers. Granted, Tyler DOES have a history of mixing women’s frilly things with his own streetwear but usually the feminine items are chiffony or glittery. This is an oddly sensible cotton dress – worn with panache however – sleeves pushed up, neckline unbuttoned, and slit visible…

TOM FORD: “SLEEPING WITH MEN DOESN’T MAKE YOU GAY!”

When Tom Ford (who happens to hate women) was discussing his new collection in New York, he made a few comments that startled and riled up some of his fans – especially the gay ones. Tom hates the word “masculine” and he likes the fact that “fashion and sexuality have become more fluid.” Tom says “The new generation is great – guys paint their nails – no big deal. You’re a man sleeping with a man? So what – that doesn’t make you GAY!” The internet lit up with comments from outraged men. One wrote “As a gay man, that’s the dumbest thing I ever heard.” Another wisecracked “No, it doesn’t MAKE you gay, but it’s likely a good indication that you already ARE!” And that’s just the beginning…

Selena Gomez looks like a classic Hollywood movie star a la Ava Gardner in this photo taken at the Business of Fashion Gala in New York. Her sheer and delicate dress is a welcome relief from all those low cut gowns with long slits that you see everywhere. Selena, 25, has never looked better – maybe it has something to do with her 8 month relationship with The Weeknd. Jared Leto has mastered the art of taking an extremely good looking man (himself) and by dressing in a clownish manner and growing a face full of hair, turn himself into an undesirable – possibly repellent character. INCHES from appearing homeless, the handsome Leto now causes women to keep their distance. GRACE JONES: STILL A SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM

One cannot exaggerate how important Grace Jones was to the music and fashion world in the late 70’s and 80’s. Hers was the nightclub act everyone wanted to see because of her extravagance, androgyny, and just plain outrageous demeanor. Experiencing Grace Jones‘ act on New Years Eve was as good as it gets. Of course she was the toast of Studio 54. (Grace was always fun to gossip about: For a few years she was dating Dolph Lundgren – whom she discovered as a door man- and once during a spat she set his pants on fire!) The La Vie En Rose singer appeared at the Toronto Film Festival, looking remarkably unchanged, for the premier of a documentary about her life.
