We’re kinda fascinated by the fact that Eva Mendes posted this photo of herself in the middle of doing her makeup. Her hair is in rollers and her concealer needs blending, but the most interesting part is her “lip mask.” What exactly is this plastic looking device doing? Have we been missing out on some new beauty product?
We were disappointed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn’t land the Elvis role in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film, but we realized that Aaron MIGHT not be much of a singer, so Austin Butler could be the logical choice. Austin, 27, DOES have the right hair for the role (did you know Elvis was born a blonde?) Hard to believe, but Austin and Vanessa Hudgens have been together since 2011. Come to think of it, she would be a really cute Priscilla Presley. No doubt Austin is busy practicing how to curl his lip like Elvis.

The Lion King is apparently a very big deal in the UK because tons of celebrities were in attendance, among them, Elton John. We thought Elton looked nicely put together until we saw this close-up photo of him smiling, revealing his godawful teeth. What possesses this man to spend unbelievable amounts of money on HIS WARDROBE and every other luxury imaginable – yet he neglects a basic essential – HIS TEETH? Has he never smiled at himself in the mirror? Yikes…

Somehow we never pictured a beach in St Tropez would look as crowded as Coney Island, but apparently it’s not as glamorous as we imagined. Goldie Hawn, 73, and Kurt Russell, 68, walked across the beach to their boat and no one gave the celebrities a second glance. Goldie is covered with freckles – she has always loved to spend time in the sun. The happily unmarried couple are in the middle of their European vacation and on their way to lunch at a fancy restaurant, Le Club 55.

That’s Steven Spielberg in the Hawaiian shirt directing dancers in his new version of West Side Story- about which we have mixed feelings. The original film was SO wonderful and successful (10 Oscars including Best Picture) in delicious TECHNICOLOR, (for those who remember)- what is the point of a remake? Can anyone ever top Bernardo (George Chakiris) with his pompadour and purple shirt? We have our doubts.

It’s been ten years, but guess who’s back at work! Sophia Loren is on the streets in Italy filming La Vita Davanti a Se (The Life Ahead) with her son Edoardo Ponti directing. She plays a holocaust survivor who bonds with a 12 year old Sengalese immigrant boy. Sophia, 84, has been working 10 hour days, and admits her son is a “perfectionist” and won’t let her leave until she gets each scene “just right.”

He may be 74, but Rod Stewart has no plans to slow down – he has a younger wife to keep him busy. We always love photos of Penny Lancaster, 48, and Rod together because, at 6’1”, she’s taller than him, and still loves to wear heels. They’ve been married for 16 years and have two boys together – Alastair, 14, and Aiden, 8. Penny and Rod were partying at Annabel’s club in London this week.

Kanye West oozes self confidence when it comes to his “artistic talents,” but we haven’t seen any new fashion collections lately. Kanye’s monochromatic collections a few years ago were met with considerable interest and admiration, although they had more than a passing resemblance to the designs of Givenchy’s Riccardo Tischi and Off White’s Virgil Abloh. Maybe those “comparisons” discouraged Kanye, because for the past few years he’s been concentrating on Adidas sneakers. We WERE surprised to see Kanye’s label on a collection of high heels (?) – they looked a LOT like what Kim Kardashian already has in her closet. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed designer Kanye is only seen in hoodies and baggy sweats these days – whatever the weather or the occasion. (Above, Kanye arrived for a party at Craig’s restaurant)

Janice Dickinson is fond of bragging that she was the “first Supermodel,” but in actuality the first supermodels were probably Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy (above) in the 60’s. Twiggy was only 16 when she became world famous for her pixie haircut and super slim androgynous looks. In 1970 she quit modeling and turned to acting in movies and TV. Now 69, she’s still very involved in the beauty business and works with Marks & Spencer on fashion collections for women her age.

David Pecker’s tabloids are in a religious frenzy over Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton – and her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale has been pulled into the mix. Gwen IS a good Catholic girl and she takes her kids to mass every Sunday. Blake Shelton often goes along for the ride, even though he’s not particularly religious. In Touch claimed awhile back that Blake was converting to Catholicism to please Gwen. He’s not, and she doesn’t expect him to. The National Enquirer says Gwen is appealing to the Pope to have her marriage to Gavin annulled so she can marry Blake in the church. Radar Online claimed Gavin nixed the annulment. None of it is true. In fact, Gwen and Blake are happy with their relationship as it is, and have no plans to marry, much less pester the Pope…
