GIVE “THE GOLDFINCH” A CHANCE

The Goldfinch was given negative reviews (mostly by jaded male critics, we presume) that drastically affected its boxoffice this weekend and we are here to defend this exquisite film. Sure, it’s a little too long, but the content more than makes up for it. Just take your time. This film builds very slowly and it sneaks up on the viewer – you find yourself identifying with the main character and literally feeling what he feels. It starts out a little sad and scary, but ends up filled with optimism. A very sensitive, fascinating and plausible story- altogether an satisfying experience. Give it a chance. We walked out feeling like we just read an excellent book…

OUR FAVORITE LOOK FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Here’s something we’ve never seen before (and when it comes to fashion, that’s unusual) and a designer we’re not familiar with – Sandy Liang showed her Summer 2020 collection and we fell in love with this photo. We’re not sure if the asymmetrical tulle ruffle is attached to the pants or the jacket, but we love the model and the entire look.

FELICITY HUFFMAN WAS LUCKY TO GET PRISON TIME

Let’s face it, if Felicity Huffman had been given the probation she was hoping (and begging) for – her career would have been over. The act of paying to have her daughter’s SAT scores falsely raised made Felicity HATED by every person who ever studied like crazy to get college acceptable grades, or who struggled to pay for tuition and expenses. At least she owned up to her illicit act and apologized. But if she had NOT gotten at least SOME jail time, SO many people would resent her white privilege that she would be dead meat in Hollywood. Getting two weeks in women’s prison means she might be able to work again someday…

ALL EYES ARE ON CARDI B – AS USUAL

Looks like Cardi B was DETERMINED to outdress Rihanna at Rihanna’s 5th Annual Diamond Ball and she does look spectacular. She’s got the edge because pink is more photogenic than Rihanna’s black gown. The fancy event raises money to support health and emergency service programs so it’s not ALL about competitive fashion. Rihanna has a lot to celebrate – her new lingerie line Savage X Fenty is the talk of the fashion world.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS AND CATHERINE ZETA-JONES : HOW DO THEY STAY MARRIED?

Being married to Michael Douglas couldn’t be a walk in the park, and frankly, we’re surprised that Catherine Zeta-Jones has hung on so long! Catherine met Michael in 1999 and married him in 2000, in spite of the fact that he was a legendary Hollywood womanizer. They had two young children when Michael was diagnosed with oral cancer and worried Catherine nursed him back to health. We can only imagine her embarrassment when Michael remarked that he blamed his cancer on too much oral sex. Catherine checked into a psychiatric clinic more than once and the pair separated for awhile. We figured they‘d split after their kids hit their teens, but no. They are back on track and looking good. Above, Michael was honored at the Paley Center for his long career. (Michael and Catherine were both born on September 25 – but 25 years apart!)

QUINCY WHO?

We took one look at this photo labeled Quincy Combs, and the first thing we thought was – he doesn’t look much like his father Sean Combs! Turns out there’s a good reason for that – Quincy is actually the son of Al B. Sure and Kim Porter – when Kim and Sean got together, he adopted Quincy. Another confusing element – Quincy, 26, has been known to use three names, Quincy Combs, Quincy Brown, and sometimes, just Quincy. 6’2” Quincy is both a singer and actor – he appeared on Fox’s Star for three seasons – he’s got both looks and connections!

MARC JACOBS: DESIGNERS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN TOO!

He’s dressed to kill for NYC Fashion Week, but Marc Jacobs didn’t forget to promote his Marc Jacobs X Peanuts collection. He’s wearing one of his Lucy shoulder bags, which retails for around $325. We didn’t know about this Peanuts thing, but the collection features all the Charlie Brown characters plus our favorite – Snoopy. There are Peanuts inspired sweats, sneakers, denim jackets, phone covers, just about everything. And it’s selling out around the world. Further proof that casual clothes have become far more important than couture…

ROSE MCGOWAN IS RIGHT- LISA BLOOM SHOULD BE DISBARRED!

Rose McGowan, and the authors of She Said, have given us yet another reason to despise lawyers. The new book, She Said, was written by the two female New York Times reporters who exposed Harvey Weinstein’s crimes. One of the most horrific revelations was a memo that lawyer Lisa Bloom sent to Weinstein offering to discredit his accusers as mentally unstable liars. Bloom has built a career on representing women accusing powerful men of misconduct, but it is apparent she has no loyalty. She assured Weinstein that she was equipped “to help you against the Roses of the world because I have represented so many of them.” Bloom offered to plant news articles making Weinstein accusers, including Rose and Ashley Judd, look mentally unstable. Even now Bloom is representing two Jeffrey Epstein accusers who should fire her immediately. Lisa Bloom’s apologies are meaningless- her evil and destructive behavior has been exposed. Her mother Gloria Allred must be so ashamed…

DOES ANSEL ELGORT HAVE THE LONGEST NECK IN HOLLYWOOD?

Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort turned up for the Tom Ford show at NY Fashion Week, but he wasn’t WITH Miley Cyrus. Actually she was at the show too and they just got together to pose for some photos. Ansel, 25, has a long-time girlfriend. He’s currently filming the remake of West Side Story – he plays Tony. What we find interesting about Ansel is the length of his neck. We think he’s cute, but he has the longest neck in Hollywood and it gives him a couple extra inches of height. He’s 6’3” and whenever we see him in a suit, his neck looks extra long. Of course, his good posture elongates the whole look. Do you agree?
