Steven Spielberg must be on a retro kick because he just announced that he is directing a new version of the 1968 classic movie Bullitt starring Bradley Cooper in the Steve McQueen role. We weren’t thrilled with his remake of West Side Story, but he insists this will NOT be a remake, but a whole new idea. (It’s funny that back in the 70’s Spielberg tried to cast McQueen to star in one of his films, but was turned down.) The original Bullitt was about a macho San Francisco cop hunting for a mobster who killed his witness. It has the most famous car chase in film history. Sexy McQueen raced cars and motorcycles in real life, and he put turtleneck sweaters on the map. It will be a challenge for Bradley Cooper, but he could bring a whole new intelligence to the role.

Simple answer to your question: NO.
Spielberg a sickening man, is interested only in filling his pockets with money. Cooper can barely carry a film.

Maybe if Steve McQueen had played a closeted man with lots of botox.
