It’s always nice to see Sophia Loren, 80, out and having a good time. Last night was very special for her – the American Film Institute honored her show business career with a tribute. Her two sons with her late husband Carlo Ponti were there – Carlo Jr, 45, a filmmaker, and Edoardo ,41, an orchestra conductor. Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara were among her admirers in the audience.

Now that she’s single, Melanie Griffith has more time to spend with her kids. She took her long-haired son Alexander Bauer, 29, shopping at John Varvatos in West Hollywood. Alexander is her oldest son, from her five year marriage to Scarface actor Steven Bauer in the 80’s. Melanie also had a son and daughter with Don Johnson, and another daughter with her estranged husband Antonio Banderas

Christie Brinkley is happy to have her 19 year old son Jack home after his first year away at school. He’s studying communication and performing arts at Emerson College in Boston and some form of show business is in his future. Jack is the son of Christie’s third husband Richard Taubman, and he was adopted by her fourth, Peter Cook.

You don’t see Jodie Foster out with her son Charles, 15, very often and he has gotten very tall since our last look. Jodie and Charles went to a medical building in Beverly Hills and as soon as she saw the camera she ducked. Jodie wasted no time after coming out at the Golden Globes in January – she married her girlfriend Alexandra Hedison last month.

It’s ironic that the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger who turned out to be the most like his father is Joseph Baena, the son he had with his housekeeper. Of course, that revelation broke up Arnold’s marriage to Maria Shriver, but he doesn’t hold it against the boy or his mom. According to TMZ, Arnold does have a relationship with the 16 year old and has noticed that husky Joseph has inherited his father’s physique. He might be another Mr Olympia in the making! Arnold started working out at 16, and he’s delighted at the prospect of mentoring his own bodybuilder son, so he’s providing the gym equipment and encouragement to get Joseph started. Rachel Zoe took her little boy Skyler to an LA toy store and the fashionista thought nothing about flopping right down on the floor to try out some potential purchases. After careful consideration, they selected an educational fun book and a toy police car.

The death of Sage Stallone, 36, (probably an accidental drug overdose) is a tragic story but conflicting reports at this time are puzzling, indeed. It’s unclear whether he lived in a house or apartment in Studio City, but he may have been dead for a week before his body was found. TMZ reports that Sage lived a Howard Hughes life and barricaded himself in his bedroom. His room was reportedly filthy – littered with beer and soda cans, cigarette butts, old food and an awful smell. He had a number of bottles full of pills. Yet, he had a housekeeper who was forbidden to enter his room when she cleaned his place. Sage had become a director and producer and had two movie companies, but is said to have run into financial problems recently. A source told the New York Post he wouldn’t ask his father for money. Sage’s lawyer insists that he was in good spirits, working on all kinds of projects, and planning on getting MARRIED! One report said that Sage’s mom sent the housekeeper to check on him and found the body, another source says his girlfriend found him. We don’t know WHAT to believe, but we feel very bad for his family.

Guests at the Beverly Hills Hotel over the holidays were shocked when they were abruptly told they would have to check out and be moved to another hotel. It seems the son of the Sultan of Brunei (who owns the hotel) decided at the last minute he needed 200 rooms for several weeks during the Christmas holidays. The Brunei family loves to shop and have cosmetic surgery in Beverly Hills. Hundreds of guests were hastily loaded into buses and driven to the Bel Air Hotel and other fine hotels nearby. It sounds awful, but really isn’t because the Prince paid for all the expenses of the guests who were moved. Their stay at the BH Hotel was free and he paid ALL their expenses at the substitute hotel for the remainder of their visits.
Joan Rivers and her daughter Melissa Rivers appeared in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and this time they brought Melissa’s son Edgar, 10, along. Usually Edgar is kept out of the limelight. Joan admits she spoils her grandson and that he totally gets her sense of humor. She joked that Edgar calls her “Nana New Face.”
We’re trying to figure out HOW Cybill Shepherd’s son Zack Oppenheim, 22, got himself arrested for stealing stuff on a plane. While passengers dozed, Zach rummaged through their carry-on luggage and relieved them of money, a camera and various travel bags. Other passengers who were wide awake watched him in the act and promptly reported him. The Enquirer was first to report this story (they were so excited they misspelled Cybill’s name.) Zack was arrested as he got off the plane in Philadelphia. He must have known it was coming because he stashed the stolen items in the bathroom trash bin where they were later recovered. How could he pull off such an obvious crime in full view of an audience? We’re thinking his mind must have been in an altered state.
