DIVORCE: RUSSELL CROWE SHOULD HAVE GONE HOME MORE OFTEN

#russellcrowe #janetcharlton

All of a sudden Russell Crowe, 48, and his wife Danielle Spencer are calling it quits after nine years of marriage and at first it’s surprising, but after you think about it, it’s not. He seems like one of those rough, hard drinking Australian guys like Mel Gibson who need an experienced Australian woman to manage him. (We remember when he tried to strangle a bartender at a party for refusing to serve drinks after the party ended.) While Danielle, 43, has been at home in Sydney where their two sons go to school, Russell has been filming movies on locations back to back and has SEVEN coming out over the next year. Danielle became lonely and let’s face it, Russell isn’t as hot as he used to be…

YIKES – WE DIDN’T RECOGNIZE RUSSELL CROWE, EITHER!

Okay, the idea of Russell Crowe being rescued by the US Coast Guard when he got off course in his kayak off Long Island, is amusing, but the real issue here is: WHAT HAPPENED TO RUSSELL CROWE? He used to be a sexy guy – we remember him in “L.A. Confidential” looking rather hot. He’s currently playing Noah in the biblical ark story for Darren Aronofsky, and Darren IS noted for preferring male stars who look like they’ve been around the block a few times. No WONDER his rescuers, on either side of Crowe, above, didn’t recognize the actor. We didn’t either!

RUSSELL CROWE LETS IT ALL HANG OUT BETWEEN MOVIES

Russell Crowe is turning into a male version of Janet Jackson. Between movies he eats like a pig and lets himself go. Then he starves himself and works out like a maniac to get in shape for an action movie. We were intrigued to hear that he is attached to star in an updated version of Michael Crichton’s Westworld. The original 1970’s movie was engrossing – it’s about a futuristic amusement park where guests can live out their fantasies. Visitors have a choice of Roman times, Wild West times, or Medieval times and they interact with robots – including beautiful women and sexy men for romance – and have adventures. The fun begins when park’s central computer breaks down and the robots run amok. For once, we think the remake might even be better than the original because technology has come so far.

SNOOP DOGG AND RUSSELL CROWE WON’T WIN ANY BEST DRESSED AWARDS

It’s funny that two of the men least likely to go to the gym are wearing track suits in New York. (Are track suits to the 2000’s what polyester leisure suits were to the 1970’s?) Casually clad Snoop Dogg ran into equally casual Russell Crowe outside the Letterman show – he’s promoting his new album Doggumentary Music. Snoop’s black socks and slides are especially amusing. Whether either of them appeared on the show dressed like this is not known.

RUSSELL CROWE AND JANET JACKSON HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON

Russell Crowe, 46, is a little like Janet Jackson in that he lets himself go, quits exercising, and eats whatever he wants between commitments. He was last seen as “Robin Hood” and it took considerable effort to get in shape for that. In December he’s filming “The Man With The Iron Fist” and he plays a kung fu expert so it’s back to the gym. Above, he was photographed playing with his sons Charlie, 7, and Tennyson, 4, in the park in Sydney.

RUSSELL CROWE: BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Russell Crowe took a break at Cafe Euro in Beverly Hills with two friends who, coincidentally or not, look a lot like him. Russell’s preparing for his movie “The Next Three Days” with Elizabeth Banks. It’s a thriller about a husband whose life changes dramatically when his wife is accused of murder.
