ELTON JOHN IS WRITING A MUSICAL ABOUT ELIZABETH TAYLOR

13 years after her death, Elizabeth Taylor is coming to Broadway! Buoyed by the success of his stage musical based on the life of the late Tammy Faye Baker, Elton John is now writing a musical based on the life of Liz! Elton and Liz bonded over their charitable efforts to raise money for AIDS awareness and research, and now he’s working on songs and a plot to pay homage to her. Elton is telling pals he’s made great progress already and is working with some of Liz’s family members, longtime friends, and employees, to gather anecdotes and stories for the production.

BRITNEY SPEARS’ MEMOIR IS HEATING UP FAST

Based on pre sales, Britney Spears’ autobiography, The Woman In Me, is destined to be a bestseller, and that’s amazing since she has done very little to promote it. She only had a very controlled interview with People magazine, but no live TV hows like The Today Showwhere she could be pressured into embarrassing revelations. But Britney HAS decided she wants to turn her life story into a Broadway musical. According to a friend, Britney has been working with a producer to create a stage production based on her book. It’s in the earliest of planning stages, but with her book sales doing better than expected, my source says Britney and her assembled team shouldn’t have trouble lining up investors. But who would star as Britney in the musical?

HOLLYWOOD WHODUNIT

SHE is a multi-talented legend, but her years of hard living haven’t been kind. HE is a C-list musical performer who has recently taken over her life, and become a SVENGALI. He controls who she talks to, shutting out longtime friends. She has limited income so he’s covering her living and medical expenses, and leasing her a condo in a famed West Hollywood building. But some of her friends fear he’s selling off decades worth of her priceless Hollywood memorabilia. And here’s the REAL shocker. Another star from the same era also lives in the building. He was worried about his friend so he walked in to her condo one day because the door was unlocked. He was SHOCKED to find the Svengali dressed in our legend’s clothes. He won’t say anything though, because the Svengali had a secret homosexual affair with him back in the day!

GUESS WHO!!!

WE CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF TINA TURNER

The fabulous Tina Turner (and her longtime companion Erwin Bach) has every reason to smile because the new musical based on her life opened in London to great reviews. Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is described as a jukebox musical (our favorite!) and it has the same female musical director as Mamma Mia. Tina’s shoes are really hard to fill, but singer/dancer/actress Adrienne Warren is described as SO delicious playing Tina, (second photo) that it’s expected to propel her into superstardom. The current #MeToo movement makes the tale of Ike Turner’s abuse and Tina’s eventual solo success even sweeter. We can hardly WAIT to see this!

Another day, another fairy tale. Meryl Streep, (walking her dog in the rain, above) and Johnny Depp are about to sign to star in a film version Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical “Into The Woods” for Disney. Both are excited at the prospect of singing. It’s the story of a baker and his wife who travel into the woods to confront the witch who put a curse on their family, and the encounter various whimsical characters. Meryl is reportedly eager to play the witch.

CHER PLANS TO “TURN BACK TIME” ON BROADWAY

#cher #janetcharlton

Cher has finally started talking – tweeting- about a Broadway musical based on her life that’s been in the works for awhile. According to Billboard, the show has been in development for several years but it sounds irresistible. The musical would be divided into three segments with different performers playing Cher in each stage of life and interacting with each other as well. One actress would play Cher as a young pop star with Sonny Bono, another would play her during the “Believe” years up to 1999, and Cher would play herself in the present day, giving advice to her younger selves. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
