MATTHEW PERRY’S BIG TERRIBLE THINGS

Gotta give Matthew Perry credit for writing his often-startling memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing WITHOUT the help of a ghost writer. Not many celebs can pull that off. We had forgotten all about his short but sweet romance with Julia Roberts back in the day (now we know why it ended.) Perry’s intestinal drama and nine months with a colostomy bag caused by drugs was indeed scary. But most upsetting was his revelation that drug abuse caused him to lose all his top teeth at once! Imagine the Friends star visiting his dentist with half his teeth in a baggie in his pocket!

MATTHEW PERRY MAKES A COMEBACK

Matthew Perry, 53, hasn’t worked for at least the last five years, and every time we’ve seen photos of him they were far from flattering. He looked unshaven and sometimes unkempt in pajama-like clothing. It’s common knowledge that he’s been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, but maybe now he’s finally gotten a grip on it. While he wasn’t acting, he was actually writing a book, and that’s a GOOD thing. He finally finished his memoir called Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing – coming out Nov 1. He talks about his “lost love,” (who could that be?) his darkest days, and behind-the-scenes Friends stories – with plenty of humor. Sounds like a best seller…

MATTHEW PERRY HAS NINE LIVES

It was just last summer that we saw those dreadful photos of Matthew Perry looking overweight, disheveled, and chain-smoking, wobblily visiting a medical building with his “sober coach.” (He has a history of addiction to methadone, vicoden, methamphetamines, and alcohol) He also had those whiskers that make many men look like transients. Magically, in December he announced that he was engaged to 29 year old literary manager Molly Hurwitz. He has also managed to pull himself together enough to film the Friends reunion and right now he’s filming Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. His fans are concerned about his appearance on the Friends reunion – if he’s smart he’ll shave off that stubble ASAP. But WHY is he selling his own collection of hoodys and t-shirts? The hoody he’s wearing in the photo above is $44.99, by the way…

Little known fact: Matthew Perry’s stepfather is Dateline’s Keith Morrison!

HIS “FRIENDS” WORRY ABOUT MATTHEW PERRY

Matthew Perry, 50, has been looking a little rough around the edges lately, but things might be improving. Perry is the one that his Friends costars worry about the most. He’s had substance abuse problems and health problems lately and hasn’t been looking his best. He recently split with a 29 year old girlfriend and seemed depressed about it. Or maybe he was depressed about social isolation. But this week he was seen in Malibu with a new woman – but we can’t tell if he’s happy because of the mask.

MATTHEW PERRY NEEDS MORE THAN A MANICURE

Matthew Perry, 49, was walking around New York yesterday looking down on his luck. If we didn’t know how wealthy his is, we’d feel sorry for him. Actually, the Friends star has been having a rough time – last year he spent three months in a hospital recovering from a gastrointestinal perforation. He’s had drug and alcohol problems in the past, and Perry has made several hospital visits recently. He was reported to be in the company of a “sober coach.”

MATTHEW PERRY’S CHIN HAS DISAPPEARED

Believe it or not. Matthew Perry, 47, was the youngest one of the Friends cast but he’s probably aging the worst. Granted, he had some health problems and ended up in rehab a few times, plus he smoked (still does?) so he didn’t lead the healthiest life. Somehow his chin receded into his plump neck and it’s time to take action. After all, he IS an actor. There are new procedures to eliminate double chin that don’t even involve surgery. Time for a visit to the Med Spa.

MATTHEW PERRY IS DOING BETTER THAN HE LOOKS

Matthew Perry may LOOK a bit thrashed in this photo, but actually he’s doing rather well. He WROTE and STARS in a new comedy, called “The End of Longing” and it’s currently playing in London. This is Matthew’s writing debut so it’s a big deal. It’s described as a dark comedy about four friends in their early 40’s interacting in Los Angeles. The play opened February 2 to mixed reviews, but he has enough fans to keep the theater full.

MATTHEW PERRY DODGED A BULLET

AG077581_01perry

Matthew Perry has every reason to smile as he takes off for parts unknown at LAX – his Odd Couple series was teetering, but looks like it IS returning for another season on CBS. Since Perry’s other sitcom attempts after “Friends” have failed, this is good news. Unfortunately the updated Odd Couple scripts are just not as funny as the original series. There is a distinct lack of subtlety with every punchline delivered on the new show, followed by loud laughter. The writing just isn’t that creative, (“Friends” spoiled us.) Hopefully next season will be better…

MATTHEW PERRY IS LIVING THE ROLE OF OSCAR MADISON

AG068897_01

Matthew Perry looks like he’s REALLY getting into character for his likeable slob role of Oscar Madison on his new series The Odd Couple, or else he had a very wild weekend. He was snapped at the drugstore picking up his meds and looks like he needs them. Reviews of Odd Couple have not been good, so as producer, he does have a lot to worry about.

MATTHEW PERRY IS THE SLOPPY HALF OF “THE ODD COUPLE”

“Friends” star Matthew Perry’s dream just came true. He saw Neil Simon’s movie “The Odd Couple” when he was 10 years old, and always dreamed of playing Oscar Madison, the messy sportswriter. He pitched an updated remake to CBS with himself as producer, co-writer, and star, and they ordered a pilot! He’s got a “Frasier” writer, Joe Keenan, on board, and now all the show needs is a Felix Unger! How about David Hyde Pierce? Or Eric McCormack? Who do YOU think would be perfect for the fussbudget Felix role?
