LEONARDO DICAPRIO TAKES SOME TIME OFF

One of the biggest stars in Hollywood manages to have lunch in New York unmolested. Leonardo DiCaprio knows how to look unremarkable and maintain privacy when he wants it. He’s been relaxing and cavorting with models since he completed the Martin Scorsese movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” which is the story of a wall street stockbroker who goes from rolling in dough to criminal self destruction.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO IS BREAKING THE LAW IN PARIS

Leonardo DiCaprio, seated in the audience at the 2013 French Open in Paris, looked around furtively before he sneaked a puff of his e-cigarette. He’s seated next to his buddy Lukas Haas. Why the surreptitious behavior? Because it’s against the law in France to smoke real cigarettes OR e-cigarettes in public places.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO HAS A TALENT FOR BLOWING SMOKE RINGS

Leonardo DiCaprio is in Rao’s restaurant in New York filming his last day of shooting on “The Wolf of Wall Street.” He’s thoroughly enjoying smoking his electronic cigarette and between takes he expertly blew smoke rings. If Leo were a Kardashian, he would already have a deal with the electronic cigarette company worth millions.

LEONARDO DI CAPRIO AND JOANNA LUMLEY: WHAT’S GOING ON HERE, ANYWAY?

#leonardodicaprio #janetcharlton

Here’s an unexpected couple filming a scene for “The Wolf Of Wall Street”. Leonardo DiCaprio, who always looks great in a suit, plays a stockbroker who served time for not cooperating in a 1990’s security fraud case. He appears to be making a pass at uncharacteristically drab Ab Fab star Joanna Lumley.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO IS HAPPY TO BE A MAMA’S BOY

#leonardodicaprio #janetcharlton

Leonardo DiCaprio is still a mama’s boy and we love him for that. He takes his mom Irmelin on vacations and introduces her to all his girlfriends. Recently they were in Miami together and Irmelin kept avoiding the pool because she didn’t want to get her hair wet. Leo happened to walk into the “Who Is Sylvia?” vintage store in Woodstock, Vermont, last week when he was in town, and he saw this 1950’s Sea Siren swim cap with the original $3.49 price tag still on it. He snapped it right up (at a higher price) as a gift for his mother. Sweet!

IS THE WORLD READY FOR THE GREAT GATSBY IN 3-D?

Back in the 70’s the classic novel The Great Gatsby was made into a big budget spectacular film starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow, but it was so boring it seemed to be four hours long. Despite the period visuals it was painful to sit through. Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann, known for the music video velocity in his movies, has modernized Gatsby to the max. Little chance of falling asleep in this version. No roaring twenties music here – it’s modern and easier to identify with. The Jazz Age suddenly seems a lot like the indulgent 90’s. Everything is bigger, more colorful, and faster. Even Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan are animated. Everything about the movie looks interesting except the fact that it’s IN 3-D! Really, is THAT necessary?

EVEN LEONARDO DICAPRIO CAN’T SAVE “J EDGAR” FROM MONOTONY

We were fully prepared to fall in love with the movie “J Edgar.” We imagined a mini-history of the USA in the first half of the 20th century, and a visual feast through the decades. Plus, we have been enjoying the sensitivity of Clint Eastwood’s directing in the past few years and if a movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, it’s bound to have a big budget. And of course we expected to learn a lot about the mysterious J Edgar Hoover. To put it mildly, our expectations were not met. We YAWNED repeatedly during the endless rambling monologues by Hoover and the countless flashbacks. Leonardo did a decent job of acting but we couldn’t forget for a minute that he’s Leo THE MOVIE STAR. An unknown character actor might have made Hoover more real. The biggest problem was the dull and uninspired script – it created an lifeless portrait of what was most likely a complex and intriguing man.

THE STORY OF LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND THE LUCKY BARTENDER

Leonardo DiCaprio left a Sunset Towers bartender a HUGE tip – a better job! Leo was sitting at the bar waiting for a friend and he struck up a conversation with the bartender while watching him work. Leo was impressed with the bar man’s work ethic and his obvious intelligence. The guy admitted he aspired to a job in the entertainment industry and was bartending to pay the bills. Leo had a good feeling about the guy and offered him a job working for his production company. The bartender was so happy he quit his job that same night.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO WOULD RATHER LOOK LIKE A THIEF THAN BE RECOGNIZED

Surely Leonardo DiCaprio wasn’t surprised when he was mistaken for a thief in that jewelry store in Sydney, Australia. A lot of the time he LOOKS like a potential thief. Anybody running a jewelry store would be freaked out if two burly guys (bodyguards) followed by a furtive man covered up in a hoodie and sunglasses walked in. Most guys covered up in hoodies are up to no good, as President Obama is well aware. Time to push the silent alarm. Luckily, Leo took off his glasses and revealed his sweet face before there was a problem and it was endearing to hear that he picked out a necklace for his mother.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO BOUGHT BLAKE LIVELY A PRIUS

There’s no doubt that Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively are still going strong because he already bought her his favorite car – a black Prius. Blake was driving around in a Range Rover and Leo doesn’t like them. A few years ago he spent $200,000 in one pop and presented Prius hybrid cars to everyone in his immediate family, his assistant, a buddy, and his then-girlfriend. He wants EVERYONE around him to set a good example.
