JEREMY PIVEN LOST HIS BEST FRIEND

Entourage star Jeremy Piven posted a heartbreaking photo of his beloved French Bulldog Bubba today, with the announcement that his dog “died in his arms and it’s hard to stop crying.” It’s impossible not to cry WITH him. Over the past year we’ve seen dozens of photos of Jeremy and Bubba getting coffee, having lunch together – they were inseparable. After Jeremy had all those sexual misconduct charges, lost his TV series, and called himself “collateral damage of the #MeToo movement, Bubba remained his loyal and constant companion. So sad…

THE STRANGE CASE OF JEREMY PIVEN

We absolutely LOVED Jeremy Piven’s series Mr Selfridge so we were disappointed when he was accused of sexual misconduct (some of it quite appalling) by several women. Piven jauntily called himself “collateral damage of #MeToo, and angrily denied everything. He even took – and passed- a lie detector test to clear himself. But when no less than 8 totally separate women came forward with misconduct claims that were eerily similar, his series, Wisdom of the Crowd, was cancelled. That absolute denial of ALL charges seemed to cook his goose. He’s still in denial, but doing okay – he’s been performing stand-up successfully and has no less that 5 films in postproduction.

Above, Jeremy Piven’s French Bulldog Bubba seems to disagree with him.

SOMEBODY STILL LOVES JEREMY PIVEN – HIS DOG!

Jeremy Piven knows that carrying a cute little dog can make anybody seem more appealing. The Mr Selfridge star (we loved that series!) has been having popularity problems. He was accused by a number of unrelated women of groping, inappropriate behavior, and sexual misconduct of all sorts. Jeremy became outraged and flatly declared that all charges were false and completely fabricated. He claimed all the women were opportunistic – seeking fame and money. Nobody was happy with THAT response, and coincidentally or not, his 2018 series Wisdom of the Crowd was canceled.

JEREMY PIVEN STILL HAS ONE BEST FRIEND

And that friend happens to be a cute and very portable French Bulldog. Jeremy has some time on his hands since his series Wisdom of the Crowd was canceled – after he was accused of predatory sexual behavior by eight women. (No violence or rape) Not really sure if that affected the series’ cancellation, but Jeremy’s reputation has suffered because he didn’t handle it well. The 52 year old Entourage star blasted the women, denied everything, and called them liars. He SHOULD have simply apologized and acknowledged that he may have behaved badly and he has learned his lesson. Jeremy is now doing stand-up – his stand-up comedy tour starts next month at a club in Naples, Florida.

JEREMY PIVEN NEEDS A NEW ENTOURAGE

Entourage star Jeremy Piven is looking pensive at Alfred’s coffee shop. Two more women have come forward with stories about his sexual misconduct in the past. Last fall when six women accused Piven of aggressive sexual behavior, he was SO outraged in his denials that he took a polygraph test to clear himself and prove that the women were all lying. It didn’t help – his CBS series Wisdom of the Crowd was not renewed for a second season. To be fair, it got bad reviews, but wasn’t doing too badly ratings-wise. (We DID love Mr Selfridge, however.) Right now Piven’s work schedule is empty. He’s a good actor, but maybe his own worst enemy.

GOOD NEWS – MR SELFRIDGE IS COMING BACK!

We were SO relieved to see this photo of Jeremy Piven filming season 3 of Mr Selfridge. It’s so easy to get hooked on this true story of a London department store and we feared it wouldn’t come back. We absolutely love this Masterpiece Theater presentation partly because we enjoy retailing, and this story reveals all the evolving fashion, manners, and women’s position in society – all in the first years of the 20th century. Wartime romance, subterfuge, conniving shopgirls, closeted gay designers. – it’s all there. To be honest we love it more than Downton Abbey and can’t WAIT for season 3.

JEREMY PIVEN IS HAPPY TO BE A WORKING ACTOR

Jeremy Piven looks absolutely delighted with himself and he should be. He just finished filming the “Entourage” movie in which he reprises his role as the abrasive Ari Gold. (Actually they filmed some scenes in our LA neighborhood.) On the other hand, his mini-series “Mr Selfridge” is now being shown on PBS and the second season is as good as the first. He plays a whole different kind of character. We happen to LOVE the story of the creative American from Wisconsin who founded the London department store in 1909 and changed retailing forever. Can’t WAIT for Sunday night!

ENTOURAGE MOVIE: THE WRENCH IN THE WORKS IS JEREMY PIVEN

We weren’t the least bit surprised to learn that Jeremy Piven was the cause of the salary stand-off that’s holding up the “Entourage” movie. He seems to be a lot like his scheming character Ari. However, there ARE extenuating circumstances, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jeremy was originally the highest paid actor on the TV series and he did earn several Emmys. He was first to sign for the movie and got a lot more money than the others. The other guys want to be paid closer to what Jeremy is getting but the movie budget won’t allow it so they are disgruntled. They ARE expected to back down simply because everyone DOES want to get the movie made.

MR SELFRIDGE: THERE’S SOMETHING WONDERFUL ABOUT VINTAGE ELEGANT DEPARTMENT STORES…

“Mr Selfridge” premiered on PBS last night and we were in shopping heaven for two hours. Watching a turn of the century department store “with modern ideas” being built in London is utterly fascinating. (There’s something about old-time department stores that we can’t get enough of) Decorating and stocking it with merchandise of the era is delicious to watch. Watching droves of hopeful employees lined up for job interviews pulls the viewer right in. The décor, fashions, and hairstyles are a feast for the eyes. With a few exceptions, the acting is enjoyable. Jeremy Piven as Harry Selfridge overacts as the enthusiastic American and he lacks subtlety. But the store, the shopgirls, the French window dresser, the frocks, – are a joy to behold.

JEREMY PIVEN PLAYS A LEGENDARY RETAILER ON MASTERPIECE THEATER

For Jeremy Piven, there IS life after Entourage – in the form of Masterpiece Theater! He landed the leading role in the prestigious drama series “Mr Selfridge” and this is one we don’t want to miss. It’s about the flamboyant Wisconsin-born Harry Selfridge who started working at the posh Marshall Field & Company in Chicago at the turn of the century. He was a retail innovator and during a visit to London in 1906 he was not impressed with the British stores, so he built his own on Oxford Street. Brilliant merchandising and extensive advertising made his fancy store a huge success and he was responsible for such retail mantras as “The customer is always right.” Harry lost it all during the Great Depression and died broke, but his story is fascinating.
