JENNIFER GREY KNOWS WHO HER FRIENDS ARE

Back in 1987 the much loved movie Dirty Dancing made Jennifer Grey a star overnight. She dated all the hot guys in Hollywood, but in the early 90’s she had a much talked about nose job that made her unrecognizable. Cute, but actually unrecognizable! In 2010 she proved she really CAN dance by winning Dancing with the Stars. Jennifer knows she owes a lot of her career to the Dirty Dancing choreographer, Kenny Ortega, and she made a sweet speech at Kenny’s Walk of Fame ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard. And she looks adorable…

JENNIFER GREY: THE TIME OF HER LIFE

It seems that Jennifer Grey’s biggest professional triumphs so far both involved dancing – “Dirty Dancing” in 1987 and “Dancing With The Stars” this week. The 50 year old Grey triumphed over much younger competitors including 20 year old Bristol Palin. We probably have Jennifer to thank for avoiding riots in the streets that might have happened if the less graceful Bristol had won. Jennifer and her little girl Stella, 9, arrived in New York for TV appearances.

ELVIS: IS JENNIFER GREY A TIME TRAVELER?

We never get tired of looking at old photos of young Elvis and this one is particularly noteworthy. It’s from photographer Alfred Wertheimer’s collection of photos taken in 1956 when Elvis was 21. According to Alfred, this photo was taken as Elvis arrived to appear on The Steve Allen Comedy Show and a fan from Long Island greeted him. HELL0 – is that fan not a dead ringer for Jennifer Grey? – in character for her movie “Dirty Dancing,” of course.

“DANCING WITH THE STARS SAVED MY LIFE” SAYS JENNIFER GREY

It’s complicated, but Jennifer Grey swears that her upcoming stint on “Dancing with the Stars” already saved her life! The “Dirty Dancing “ star says she has been invited to do the show many times but only last year did she really consider it. Her neck had bothered her since she had that awful car accident with Matthew Broderick years ago, so she visited Karina Smirnoff’s neurologist and was shocked by what he told her. Her spinal cord was compressed and if she fell or something she’d likely be paralyzed. He also pointed out a nodule she’d been “watching for years” and insisted she have it removed as well as having her compressed nerves dealt with. The nodule turned out to be cancerous, but she is now cancer free and her neck is ready to dance. THAT’S why Jennifer says the show saved her life! (Jennifer is front row, second from the left.)
