LIFETIME COMPANIONS: BEN AFFLECK AND DUNKIN DONUTS

We have to give credit to the Dunkin Donuts company for hiring their most loyal – and probably most famous – fan, Ben Affleck, to appear in ads . They are even cleverly recreating familiar paparazzi shots through the years of Ben enjoying their coffee and donuts. After he and his wife Jennifer Garner split, Ben was photographed bringing different female companions to Dunkin Donuts, much to his dismay. We remember when he was dating Ana de Armas, she often stayed at his west side home and just about every morning a paparazzi would catch Ben fetching Dunkan Donuts treats delivered to his doorstep. Nowadays Jennifer Lopez is his Dunkin Donuts companion – his favorite drink is still “iced coffee with milk and 2 sugars- sometimes Splenda”

WHATEVER LOLA WANTS

Madonna’s daughter Lourdes (professional name Lola Leon) is cashing in on her famous mom and landing lucrative modeling jobs. The companies advertising LOVE all the attention their ads get when Lola, 24, is featured. Most recently, the aspiring actress/model modeled for the new Parade X JuicyCouture underwear collection, and the company is thrilled by the positive response. At most, Lola is 5’7”, but she doesn’t hesitate to take her clothes off or flaunt underarm and leg hair, so designers consider her to be a typical modern and ultra-hip girl. At least she spent four years studying at the University of Michigan (don’t know if she got a degree) before she started her theatrical career.

THE DAY OF THE DIVA IS OVER

Liza Minnelli, 68, may be a legend but that no longer excuses bad behavior. According to Page Six she was hired to shoot an ad for Pine Brothers Cough Drops (our favorite) and had a mile long list of demands. They included two cartons of cigarettes, a humidifier, 6 cases of Bai antioxidant drink, food and body scales, black Egyptian cotton towels, a $400 coffee service, AND SO ON. (Plus hair and makeup.) It was all waiting for her on shoot day, but she backed out, saying she felt “too much pressure.” Frantic producers called no-nonsense Martha Stewart, 72, and she rushed over and was camera ready in ten minutes. She shot the ad, which ran during The Golden Globes, like a pro. She earned around a million dollars for forty minutes of work! It’s time for Liza and all the other divas in the world – to snap OUT of it! We no longer choose to indulge self-centered people. What the world needs, is more women like Martha Stewart who get the job DONE.

EASTERN AIRLINES WOULD DO ANYTHING TO KEEP THEIR MALE PASSENGERS HAPPY

haha_zpsb8b36e27aircut

It’s funny at first, and then not so funny when you think about this Eastern Airlines ad from the 1960’s. Anyone who flew back then remembers what a pleasant experience it was- passengers dressed up and the planes were decorated in lush colors. There was more space, better food and shorter lines. In those days you MET interesting people on flights. This ad reminds one that stewardesses actually had frequent weigh-ins in order to keep their jobs. Imagine if MEN were held up to standards like these! Women have made progress since Eastern Airlines among many others, belittled them, but they still have a long way to go. At least half of the people in public office should be female. Vote accordingly.

Above, among the “losers” – a dead ringer for Ali MacGraw in the front row and the tallest one in the back is a Jean Shrimpton lookalike.

JENNIFER LOPEZ IS CONSPIRING WITH L’OREAL TO PUT ONE OVER ON US

Every time we see Jennifer Lopez swinging what she wants us to think is her hair in a L’Oreal ad, we have to laugh. Sure, Jennifer is recognized for her beautiful skin and perfect makeup, but everyone knows she is almost never seen without a wig or hairpiece. Especially in movies. When Jennifer is flinging her glossy hair around in those impossibly glamorous ads, it isn’t hers. This kind of fakery is an insult to the consumer.

HEY BEYONCE, THIS IS WHY WOMEN NEED TO STICK TOGETHER!

In honor of the Mad Men premier Sunday, The NY Daily News dug up some sexist advertisements from the mid-century era of the show. This is just the type of ad that Don Draper would have smirkingly approved. It’s amazing and laughable to look back at how women were held in such low regard in those days. Men ruled then, but soon feminism reared its beautiful head and times are still evolving. Hopefully, Beyonce, who seems to have forgotten the continued need for female equality, will take a close look at this. (Our favorite ad is by Van Heusen, above.)

SNOOP DOGG MAKES PISTACHIO NUTS SEEM ILLEGAL

So far, Snoop Dogg’s (or is it Lion?) ad for Paramount Farms pistachios has been the most controversial and successful. Censors were so outraged by his drug-implied ad (he pours pistachios out of a pill bottle and calls it “habitual”) that it was banned by the networks. Snoop’s “Get crackin”” ad is limited to cable and online. Being banned is probably the best thing that could happen – his ads are more successful than the ones done by Snooki, The Village People, and Homer Simpson for the same pistachio campaign.

IS THIS BRAD PITT CHANEL AD A JOKE, OR WHAT?

#bradpitt #chanel #janetcharlton
Brad Pitt for Chanel:

Charlize Theron for Dior:

What happened to Chanel? And what happened to Brad Pitt? This Chanel #5 ad (top) has to be the worst thing brad has ever done! He looks washed out, rumpled and defeated. Facial fuzz and stringy hair add to the lack of physical appeal. There’s nothing flattering or enticing or sexy about the ad. Compare it to the one that Charlize Theron did (with no expense spared) for Dior. Which scent would YOU buy?
