Men who wear elevator shoes and the shoes they wear have always been a source of fascination. Simon Cowell is obviously not happy about his height (he claims to be 5’9”) and he’s been augmenting it for years. He’s quite secretive and buys expensive custom made shoes that have lifts inside and built up heels. Simon’s been wearing exactly the same style of pointy toe shoes for YEARS, and tops them off with extra long wide leg pants or jeans that cover them up. That explains why his style hasn’t changed for the last 25 years…

There’s no way that he is 5’9. 15 years ago I stood next to him to see how tall he really was. I’m 5’8 and he was shorter than me. Everybody said that he was about 2 inches shorter than me.

The days back in Jolly Old of his mates’ unceasing torment of poor Simon about his height (they used Randy Newman’s song “Short People” to devastating effect), have resulted in years of expensive–and ongoing–therapy.*

And Simon, knowing you will read these words, take comfort in remembering that though your feet never reach the floor when you are sitting down, you’re still rich, famous, and happily (if secretly) g*y.
