Richard Simmons is going to waste a whole lot of money on legal fees if he continues to pursue his lawsuit against The National Enquirer. A judge has already declared he doesn’t have a case because claiming he was transitioning into a woman is not career or character damaging. The magazine has an abundance of photos of Richard dressed up in drag from head to toe. (It’s rumored that a former assistant provided some of them) Keep in mind, The National Enquirer has excellent lawyers who fanatically examine every story before it’s published, so they seldom lose a lawsuit. Our advice to Richard: Save your money!

Shades of Carol Burnett’s (whom we adore) famous suit against The Enquirer back in the 80s. The paper alleged that Carol was drunk in public in a Washington DC restaurant. Carol countered that the allegation was untrue–and especially hurtful to her and to her image–because both of her parents had died of alcoholism.
Lawyers for TNE quickly produced voluminous evidence that proved that a staple characterization of Carol’s on her top-rated Saturday night variety show was of drunk women.
Bottom line–and agree completely with JC: only the lawyers come up winners in these cases. 🙁
(And our first reaction to that picture above was to wonder: “When did Kathy Griffin get married again?”)
A very sick man. Hopefully he wilk check himself into a hospital
The judge will be overruled by the appellate court & the case sent back for a trial, with a different judge.
Leave it to Janet to cuddle up with the TNE. I like Simmons.
