Rebecca Gayheart has mixed emotions about the GoFundMe campaign launched by some pals of her late estranged husband, Eric Dane. My well placed source reveals that at first Rebecca was 100% against the idea of asking people for money – since she’s already a working actress and she just happens to be linked to a billionaire, Hard Rock founder Peter Morton. (For what it’s worth, Peter was secretly said to be mortified by the idea.) In the end, Rebecca agreed to allow the friends to proceed with the campaign under the proviso that all money collected go straight into a trust fund for her two daughters. Shockingly, we hear Eric died pretty much flat broke and didn’t have any substantial life insurance for his daughters.

Another celebrity who died broke, why am I not surprised. You see them on TV but they are living paycheck to paycheck just like the rest of us. I would of thought he made good money doing Euphoria. I guess not.

2009 Leaked Video: A private, intimate video featuring Gayheart, her then-husband Eric Dane, and Kari Ann Peniche leaked in 2009. The couple subsequently filed a lawsuit against Gawker Media regarding the video’s publication.
2001 Fatal Accident: On June 13, 2001, Gayheart struck 9-year-old Jorge Cruz Jr. with her vehicle in Los Angeles; the boy died the following day. She pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter, resulting in three years of probation, a one-year license suspension, a fine, and 750 hours of community service. A wrongful death lawsuit was later settled out of court.

Health insurance in this country is a disaster, especially after one turns 50 but is still too young to get on Medicare, which doesn’t begin until age 65.
To provide more context to this, Dane was at the age when those 50 or older see premiums rise tremendously. Also, I’m sure there were meds, equipment, caregivers, etc that weren’t covered by his health insurance. That could very well be the reason he was broke. I do wish he had taken out life insurance plans for his daughters, though. That could have been a big help.

I’m sure funeral expenses were paid for, it cost $20k for a funeral these days, cheaper if you opt for cremation. That’s nothing for a celebrity like Rebecca Gayheart. I think they are talking about leaving a inheritance for her kids for when they go to college. Sad nonetheless. James Van Der Beek was in a worse financial situation as well when he died.
