Janet Charlton's HOLLYWOOD

We like to remember Val Kilmer when he surprised Hollywood by dating Cher for a couple of years in the mid-80’s. She said he was one of the few boyfriends who broke up with HER (but they remained friends.) No surprise- several directors labeled Val as difficult. When he reported for work on the Batman Forever set we were told that Val  demanded a dossier on each actor and crew member he was working with on the set. He wanted personal info and details about everybody. He refused to leave his trailer and held up production until that information was given to him. Director Joel Schumacher was not thrilled, but hustled to fulfill his extravagant demand. They never worked together again.  Joel and other directors who found him “difficult” admitted  that they DID admire his work in spite of his “method” acting.
