MADONNA AND RIHANNA: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE POOF

We’re giving Madonna and Rihanna top marks for their creative and courageous fashion looks at the Costume Institute Ball. If this isn’t an event that calls for forward fashion and eccentric new looks, nothing is. Plenty of women looked glamorous and very safe, but only a few had the nerve to pull off real FASHION and we salute them. Madonna’s starched fabric head piece, poof skirt, and thigh boots are by Louis Vuitton, and Rihanna’s poof shoulder suit is by Dolce & Gabbana.

RAY LIOTTA GETS HIS EYEBROWS SHAPED

Ray Liotta was obsessed with his eyebrows? Odd, but true. Every few weeks like clockwork, Ray is annoyed because photographers catch him going into Anastasia’s salon in Beverly Hills to get his eyebrows groomed in a private room. He always wears sunglasses.

JULIA ROBERTS CAN DO IT HERSELF

There’s an awful lot of Julia Roberts bashing going on, but we still like her. She and Danny are vacationing in Hawaii and in these photos, she kissed him before he went surfing on his own. Julia stayed on the beach and kept an eye on their three kids. There were no nannies in sight – we’re betting she’s a very involved mom.

JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS: REHAB? NOT ME!

He’s perplexing. “Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was arrested for public drunkenness and breach of the peace at the Dublin airport, so no one was surprised in February when he supposedly went off to rehab. Now he tells us he DIDN’T really go to rehab – he made up that story because he needed time off- especially from award shows. (Can’t blame him – those award shows can be a nuisance.) But he allows that he did see “a counselor” for some reason. He looks rather healthy and sexy here as he walks out of Katsuya in Hollywood.

MICHAEL JACKSON IS STARTING TO THINK ABOUT HIS BIG COMEBACK

What IS Michael Jackson thinking? He just started auditioning dancers for his comeback concerts in the UK that commence on July 8. Talk about waiting till the last minute! Michael had 500 excited dancers lined up to try out for 50 parts in his show. At the first audition, Michael didn’t even show up, he scrutinized the dancers by video link. It seems like Michael has been doing a lot of shopping and not so much rehearsing or preparing for this sold-out event. If we were producing those shows, we’d be worried, but Michael may surprise us at the last minute with a fabulous performance. On the other hand, he may not.

DON'T ASK ANGELINE TO SMILE FOR THE CAMERA

Here’s a rare photo of Los Angeles billboard queen Angelyne, and we’ll tell you why it’s rare. Because Angelyne refuses to pose for photos unless a Polaroid camera is used! She thinks polaroids are more flattering but, of course, nobody has Polaroid cameras anymore, so Angelyne won’t cooperate with photographers. She’s pictured here having coffee with a young man wearing an Angelyne T shirt.

STEVE JONES DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT

It looks like anarchy is the farthest thing from Steve Jones’ mind. The radio DJ (and former Sex Pistol) is sporting some extra heft, accentuated by the color white, as he plays in a charity soccer match in downtown LA. His hugely popular radio show “Jonesy’s Jukebox” was another casualty of the recession and he is sorely missed in LA.

HALLE BERRY WANTS STORM TO HAVE HER OWN MOVIE

Halle Berry took little Nahla to lunch at Barefoot in Beverly Hills and we got a closer look at the short haircut she debuted at the “Wolverine” premier. Halle seems to look good in EVERY hairstyle she tries. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was a huge box office hit over the weekend, and Halle hopes her character Storm will get a movie too.

DAVID BOWIE AND IMAN CATCH HIS SON'S MOVIE

The Sony sci-fi thriller “Moon” has been getting good buzz on the film festival circuit, and one of the producers is Sting’s smart wife Trudie Styler, and the director happens to be David’s son Duncan Jones.. That must be why David Bowie and his model wife Iman showed up for the premier – to support Duncan and Trudie. It’s always fun to see the Bowies out and about.

KATY PERRY'S KISSING HER GUY AGAIN, AND SHE LIKES IT

Katy Perry’s December breakup with her fiancee Travis McCoy, frontman for Gym Class Heroes, can officially be declared a failure. After an anquish filled four months, they reunited in Miami and, according to this photo, seem happier than ever. Back in December they felt they were being pulled in two separate directions, but it looks like they figured out how to live with two demanding careers.
