WHAT REALLY HAPPENED THE NIGHT MADONNA AND MICHAEL JACKSON WENT OUT

Oops! When Madonna reminisced about her “date” with Michael Jackson on the MTV Video Awards, she seemed to forget a few details. Back in 1991, Madonna was hungry to promote her documentary, “Truth or Dare” and Michael Jackson was about to release his album “Dangerous.” Madonna called Michael and suggested they maximize their publicity by attending the Academy Awards together. They met for a “private” dinner at THE IVY a week before to plan the event. On Oscar night Michael wore a diamond brooch and two gloves and Madonna was in her Marilyn Monroe phase with platinum hair and white fur. They made a big deal out of holding hands and posing for photographers, but the after party at Spago told the real story. Once inside, Madonna got bored and ended up sitting on her ex Warren Beatty’s lap while Michael huddled up with Diana Ross. After the party Madonna dropped off Michael in a hurry and hooked up with John Enos. So much for Madonna and Michael’s friendship.

WHILE ROBIN WRIGHT PENN WAS BEING HONORED, SEAN PENN WAS CAROUSING WITH A SWIMSUIT MODEL

While Robin Wright Penn was being honored at the Deauville Film Festival for her new drama “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” (about a woman with a cheating husband) her estranged husband Sean Penn was angrily avoiding photographers in New York. He and his dinner date, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White, ran in separate directions when they saw paparazzi outside the restaurant.

MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS: TAYLOR SWIFT KEPT HER COOL WHILE KANYE WEST ACTED LIKE A FOOL

It was great TV, but our hearts went out to Taylor Swift when numbskull Kanye West butted into her acceptance speech for Best Female Video, grabbed her mic and announced that Beyonce had the best video. Poor Taylor, only 19, was frozen with shock and when the audience started BOOING it was evident for a horrible moment that she feared they were booing HER! Eventually it became apparent that they were booing West and he responded with a rude gesture. We felt bad for the shaken Taylor, but she behaved graciously and this will certainly be the award she never forgets.

SYLVESTER STALLONE’S EYEBROWS HAVE A LIFE OF THEIR OWN

Sylvester Stallone received a Filmaker Award at The Venice Film Festival and his appearance got the British tabloids buzzing. He was described as wearing “orangey” makeup and it was pointed out that Sly could arch his eyebrows without creating any creases in his forehead. We compared this smooth look with an early photo – and sure enough- he had more lines on his face thirty years ago. Sly treated the Venice audience to a sneak peek of some scenes from his latest effort “The Expendables.” (We wonder if the movie had botox in the budget.) Regardless, for 63, Sly deserves credit for looking better than most.

We NEVER would have guessed this was Robert Downey Jr! Maybe it’s the face he’s making or the facial hair, but he looks like an entirely different person in this photo taken in New York during fashion week. Robert is working constantly, pumping out movies (including Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes,”) so there’s no recession in his life.

ANDERSON COOPER ASKED THE BACHELORETTE THE HARD QUESTION: THE ANSWER IS THREE!

While filling in on Good Morning America, Anderson Cooper asked Bachelorette Jillian Harris THE BIG QUESTION. She and her chosen soul-mate Ed Swiderski were taken aback when curious Anderson asked “How many guys (on the show) did you sleep with?” After considerable squirming, Jillian evaded the issue by admitting “I kissed 10 guys,” but WE know the truth. Guys DO gossip, you know! According to our inside source, Jillian slept with at least THREE of the finalists! They couldn’t resist bragging. Ed may not like the sound of that, but he DID come up the winner!

Here’s a happily married Hollywood couple. Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen have been married for fourteen years and continue to look sincerely affectionate. Perhaps one secret to their bliss is the observation that Ted is carrying TWO umbrellas in his hand. A gentlemanly thing to do on a potentially rainy day.

Halle Berry is a big tease. Rumors that she’s pregnant with her second baby have flooded the gossip market for MONTHS, but still she refuses to admit a thing. Presumably she must be well over the three month safety mark. Instead of accepting congratulations, Halle delights in sliding into a baggy dress and deliberately carries huge shopping bags awkwardly in front of her as she’s leaving Fred Segal. We’re happy for ya, Halle!

LaToya Jackson, who believes her brother Michael “was the closest thing to God I knew” has apparently started to dress like Elizabeth Taylor. Isn’t a sweatsuit, Ed Hardy hat, Louis Vuitton bag, and Michael Jackson t-shirt something Liz would wear in her wheelchair? La Toya was snapped at LAX coming home from New York and she wants everyone to know she was NOT paid for her 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters (Friday, 10PM.) “Gifts” probably don’t count.

PATRICIA FIELDS DRESSED UP SARAH JESSICA PARKER JUST LIKE MADONNA

There’s a very good reason why Sarah Jessica Parker is dressed SO much like Madonna in the 80’s for this flashback sequence in “Sex & the City 2.” The reason is that Madonna used to buy her gear in the very hip, rather undergound store “Patricia Fields” in the village. This shop had all the garter belts, waist cinchers, rubber jewelry, ripped tights, fingerless gloves, and petticoats you could ever want. And that same Pat Fields has always done the fabulous wardrobe for “Sex and the City.”
