GREG PLITT: THE STEROIDS MADE HIM DO IT!

The more we read about the death of TV bodybuilder Greg Plitt, the more we think steroids were responsible for his gruesome finish. Police say he was filming action shots running along the train tracks for his motivational website when he was struck by a train. His friends admit that he tried to act like Superman and liked to push things to the limit. “There was nothing he couldn’t do!” He had no permit to be on the tracks and didn’t think he needed one. He was no genius and the drugs made him feel invincible. Just look at Greg’s face and body and it’s apparent he’s pumped up. Steroids stimulate violence and superhuman confidence it’s as simple as that. A tragic and shamefully avoidable loss.

DAVID DUCHOVNY AND GILLIAN ANDERSON: LET THE RUMORS BEGIN!

Yep, it’s happening. The X Files series (1993 – 2002) is coming back to Fox. Both stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, have been approached and are interested. They originated the roles of Scully and Mulder, FBI agents who investigate the paranormal. And their fans are STILL out there! Schedules are being worked out and script ideas are being pitched, aiming to start next summer. Now the rumors about the pair having a secret romance can start all over again – both happen to be single.

CAN JOHNNY DEPP GET HIS GROOVE BACK?

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard look happier than we’ve ever seen them in this photo at the UK premier of his new movie Mortdecai. We have a feeling it has nothing to do with the movie. Any ads we’ve seen for “Mortdecai” remind us of how awful “Annie” looked and turned out to be. The Mortdecai trailer indicates that it’s just as slapstick and poorly written and overacted as Annie. Johnny Depp seems to be destroying his own career and it appears this movie isn’t likely to change that trajectory.

CAVE MAN RUSSELL CROWE THINKS HE KNOWS WHAT’S WRONG WITH ACTRESSES

Not long ago, Russell Crowe, 50, made some comments about actresses over 40 who complain there aren’t enough roles for them. He said that the unhappy actresses wanted to continue playing ingénue roles as if they were still 21 and couldn’t understand why they weren’t cast. He praised Meryl Streep for playing her “age.” This infuriating chauvinism probably broke up his own marriage! Crowe doesn’t acknowledge that MALE stars habitually play younger and their love interests are DECADES younger. Actresses are often doomed to playing “girlfriends” when they’re young, and “moms” when they age, because few movies are ABOUT women. The problem is there are not enough females writing scripts about women and not enough female studio heads okaying them. White men still rule in Hollywood. Meanwhile lookswise, Crowe does NOT seem to be holding up as well as Sharon Stone…

Vivienne Westwood has always been one of our favorite designers, and her latest menswear collection is as entertaining as ever. Her shows are always extravagant and make you wonder who is going to WEAR these looks. It so happens Ewan McGregor, rapper Common, and Gavin Rossdale, among many other celebrities, ALL wear Westwood. There are always a large number of highly wearable pieces and beautiful plaid suits for a man with a little courage and imagination.

LIEV SCHREIBER: THE FAMILY THAT BICYCLES TOGETHER

Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber is a man who believes in the virtue of bicycles and he has raised his family on wheels. He and his partner (possibly his wife) Naomi Watts, and their two sons, live mostly in New York and have an assortment of bicycles there. They have bikes built for two and bikes with special child seats. Photos of them getting in or out of cars are rare! The family has the same collection of bicycles at their Los Angeles home. Above, Liev pulls little Sam in a cart while Sasha rides his own bike alongside.

EVA MENDES AND RYAN GOSLING ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD LAUGH

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are finally going out in public after the birth of their baby Esmeralda. It’s interesting that for their date night this weekend they chose to see Don Rickles, 88, perform at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. The iconic Rickles, who inspired many of today’s comedians, is considered to be an “insult comic” and he spares no one. All types and ethnicities are his targets. Early in his career he was onstage at a Miami nightclub – he saw Frank Sinatra sit down in the audience, and wisecracked “ Make yourself at home, Frank, HIT someone!” Sinatra loved him and helped make him a star. To be insulted by Rickles is considered to be a badge of honor. In this age of “political correctness” he must seem more outrageous than ever.

JARED LETO JUST BOUGHT HIS OWN MILITARY COMPOUND

Jared Leto just paid 5 million dollars for what used to be a military compound in the Hollywood Hills! Included are 50,000 sq ft of living space with 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. It was built in Laurel Canyon in the early 1940’s and later used as a military film studio. Compared to neighboring properties the compound looks grey and stark and free of frills or rolling lawns. But plenty of parking. Maybe Jared will turn it into a recording studio for his band – or maybe something completely unexpected. He still has a house in the hills that he’s lived in since 2006.

JENNIFER LOPEZ IS READY TO MAKE AN ENTRANCE LIKE LORETTA YOUNG

Thank you, Jennifer Lopez, for giving us a different look. No plunging neckline, no slits to the hip, and no cutouts. Her satin circle skirt and halter top has a vintage and VERY sophisticated feeling. And the increasingly popular ballerina length of her skirt is reminiscent of 1950’s old Hollywood glamour. More fresh and original than Jennifer’s clingy Golden Globes look.

TAYLOR SWIFT HASN’T FORGOTTEN HER LOVE OF HORSES JUST BECAUSE SHE’S IN MANHATTAN

There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift LOVES living in New York. Who wouldn’t? She has a huge 20 million dollar Tribeca penthouse and an abundance of closets for all the shopping she does. It seems like she walks out of her building in a new outfit every day. Today she wore her English riding outfit – complete with boots, red jacket, and hat – she’s loved horseback riding since she was a child and probably just returned from a stable. She and a girlfriend stopped into her neighborhood Whole Foods to pick up a few things.
