Kim Basinger may have crossed the line here. She’s hired around the clock BODYGUARDS to protect her 11 year old daughter Ireland from her angry father Alec Baldwin. Baldwin has apologized both publicly and privately to his daughter for his voicemail tirade in which he called her a “thoughtless little pig.” Alec is in New York and cannot see his daughter at least until a May 4 court date. Apparently all that negative publicity wasn’t enough to satisfy Kim, she had to rub salt in the wound by hiring bodyguards to “protect” her daughter. We wonder – will she send the bill to Alec?
I hope she does. He is the thoughtless pig. I hope she nails his sorry self!

I think she hired the body guards due to all the new media attention this is generating. for some reason this became a super hot story and we already know what a circus the paps made of this story like any other. gotta love the paps, they keep me in the know. 🙂

There have been stories for many years of Kim Basinger being mentally ill and deeply disturbed. She is probably doing as much damage to her with her paranoia and neurosis as Alec did with the verbal abuse. This poor girl should live with someone other than her parents

while none of us knows what exactly transpired between alec baldwin and kim basinger, one thing is for sure: no parent should *ever* talk to their children like alec talked to ireland on that voicemail.
speaking as someone who grew up psychologically abused by her father, i can say that voicemail rung some serious bells with me. that was the voice of a control freak, an abuser.
kim may not be entirely innocent, but the voicemail spoke for itself.

I don’t excuse Alec for what he said to his daughter. There really is no good excuse for that. What an awful, awful thing to say to call anyone especially your 11 year old daughter. But, I do believe him when he says he felt like he was driven to that point. This divorce has been so nasty and I agree with earlier posters, they are both guilty of using their daughter against one another. As a child of divorce myself, I’ve seen it first hand and I know how one parent can influence a child against the other parent intentionally or not. In my opinion, if Kim really cared about the welfare of her daughter, she would never have let her be exposed this way. And as for Ireland, she should show her father some measure of respect and answer the phone when she’s suppose to. He sure isn’t going to win any Daddy of the Year Award but it sounds like he’s at least trying to fulfill his obligation to her as her father. At least as well as he is capable and that should count for something. As for Alec, I hope for all involved that he isn’t intentionally abusive but just a frustrated parent pushed to a breaking point. Hopefully, he will head back to anger management counseling. God help them all. What a sad story this is.
I totally agree with anonymous 9:34pm. Both Alec and Kim need some serious professional help fast. I think that Alec spoke like that out of anger and frustration. Here he is trying to be a dad that wants to see his kid and that lunatic Basinger doesn’t think twice about using her kid to push his buttons. Now, if he didn’t try to see his kid, she would still put their biz out there and try to make him seem like an asshole. She will never be happy!!! My mother tried the same thing with me, to turn me against my dad. It didn’t work and now she and I don’t speak because of all the hurtful things she said and did to try to keep me from my father. It will be interesting to see how this kid turns out.
I am sure Ireland has heard his anger before and it probably does not phase her as much as others – I have always gotten the impression he really loves his daughter and like most quick tempered people, his bark is worse than his bite. The real culprit is the one who released it. Now she had to not only hear her father’s anger/frustration but now her peers (and the rest of the world) witnessed it. Kim has always seemed a little “off” to me.

I think both of the parents need to be forced to attend counseling together, or face losing their child. Alex needs some anger managemnt classes, as well. These people are destroying their daughter for their own selfish, personal vendetta. The only one who will suffer in the long run is Ireland. Growing up is hard enough. A kid shouldn’t have to put up with this crap from their idiot parents.
Kim might be a nutcase herself for all we know, but I still think it’s smart that she released that tape. We often hear of men who abuse women in private but who are extremely popular and charming to the public, who then don’t believe that they could hurt anyone and then they turn on the accuser. Now, with this tape, Kim has proven that Alec is a verbal abuser..and studies have shown that that can escalate. I remember reading years ago about a red-faced Alex reaming out Kim at the top of his lungs in the Hamptons somewhere. Yikes. That seems totally true to me now.

Alec has damaged his relationship forever with this child. He has a bad temper and everyone knows it, he’s needs help. I bet if Kim put this out there it was a plea for SOMEONE or anyone to listen to her and know he is out of control.

Let’s face it; Baldwin is a drunk. Listen to the recording again, and you’ll hear the slurred speech. Observe his bloated appearance, and it’s probably Scotch that’s doing the job on his once good looks. He’s also a narcisscist, judging from his irrational rants on any subject you’d care to name. Put the two together, a drunk narcisscist, and let’s hope Kim gets sole custody with NO visitation rights.

The court had heard the tape and acted on it, there was nothing else to do…now she let the world see their craziness and I think this will backfired on Kim Bassinger “big time.”

She denied that she released, but shouldnt she have put out a statement about her disgust at it being released and getting to the bottom of who release it to embarrase her daughter. Alec’s behavior is no surprise to her..so no need for alarm. What I find alarming is her reaction to his behavior on the tape and not the hurtful release of the tape
I was really surprised at NBC’s support for AB. It seems you can slur gays and african-americans and all hell breaks loose. But if you emotionally abuse a child, no one pays any attention. His beef is with his ex-wife, not his child, and did you notice that he never once said anything along the lines of “I love you”?
