IRELAND BALDWIN IS DRUMMING UP BUSINESS FOR THE ALDI DISCOUNT STORES

This photo of Ireland Baldwin modeling in Germany has been circulating and it introduced us to a huge chain of stores we never heard of. Ireland is presenting the new beachwear collection for the German based grocery outlet/bargain market Aldi (it’s similar to Costco.) Aldi has 10,000 stores in 20 countries – 1600 in the US – mostly back east. And we NEVER heard of it! Ireland is formidable on the catwalk – she’s 6’2” in sneakers so we imagine a lot of discount clothing doesn’t fit her. But she’s doing a great job of publicizing Aldi.

she’s so mediocre….clearly the Baldwin last name got her that gig.

As I live in Chicago, I can’t be a Russian anything!

Aldi has been around a few years. Have to pay a quarter to get a shopping cart which when returned get your quarter back. Specialize in weird off brand food. Got it here in Texas.

Aldi is not similar to Costco!
You don’t need to be a member to go to Aldi.
Almost everything is Aldi’s private label brands, except for a few special buys.
The stores are small, around 20,000 sq. ft, compared to over 100,000 sq. ft for most Costcos.
And Aldi has been in California for a couple of years now. In most cities, it’s the #2 or #3 grocer in sales, mainly because everything is cheaper there.
I’ve been going there since the first one opened in 1977 in the Chicago suburbs.
