Even though The Late Show was canceled in a very unexpected fashion, you have NOT seen the last of popular host Stephen Colbert. While the rumor mill rumbles with possible reasons, (including speculation that Donald Trump influenced the decision – since the show frequently skewered him) CBS decided to end the show in May 2026. Our well placed source reveals that Stephen is already being wooed with offers from streaming giants like Netflix about hosting a weekly show with similar content. Here’s the thing. CBS wants Stephen to sign a noncompete clause once the show ends, and although there will likely be a financial incentive to sign one, Stephen is confiding to pals that he would rather continue to work than cash out. For the time being, no one really knows what will happen but our source is predicting Stephen will wind up dishing out his humor and political commentary on a non network. Looks like …HE’LL BE BACK!
DON’T WORRY ABOUT STEPHEN COLBERT

Non-compete with what, a timeslot? I thought CBS said it was getting out of the late night talk show business. If Colbert goes to a streaming network, people could watch at whatever time of day they want.

Nobody watches linear Network TV like in the 1970s

Yup, betting on Colbert coming back sooner than later would be an easy bet to win! I like his dry wit a lot, and especially love The Colbert Questionnaire. Also, he is a long-practicing Catholic and continues to teach Sunday school. And happily married to his first wife Evie for many decades as well. My prediction re: his career is this: he will have a new, super-sweetheart deal AND in the process, CBS will become even more tarnished than it already is for cancelling the show.

He is a very hateful person, not funny, hard to watch unless you want to get as angry and bitter as he is. Glad they are cancelling him. Won’t watch on Netflix either.
