THE FLAMING LIPS : A KNOCKOUT IN THE UK

You get more than your fair share of visuals at a Flaming Lips concert. The Oklahoma based band has been dishing up elaborate psychedelic stage shows featuring puppets, video projections, science fiction, etc since the 80’s. No surprise that they’re a big hit in the UK – above at The Wilderness Festival 2016. Wayne Coyne (above) and the band teamed up with – of all people – Miley Cyrus for the memorable 2014 Billboard Awards. An unexpected pairing, but actually it was a career boost for both of them.

IT’S WOODY ALLEN’S FIRST TV SERIES AND HE’S TERRIFIED

Say what you will about Woody Allen, he’s a brilliant writer and filmmaker and at the age of 80 is not slowing down. He made a deal with Amazon to create his first series and last year he was fretting that it was a “catastrophic mistake.” But things appear to be coming together – he cast Miley Cyrus as one character and it could be a huge career break for her. Above, Woody and comic actress Elaine May, 83, are filming a scene for the untitled project set in the 1960’s, and it makes one wonder if HIS character will be paired with an age appropriate woman for a change.

MILEY CYRUS AT VMA’S: SHE EMBARRASSED HERSELF TRYING SO HARD TO BE “COOL”

If we never had to look at Miley Cyrus’s tongue again, the world would be a better place. Her revolting turn as host of the Video Music Awards will be hard to live down. Colorful costumes are no substitute for clever banter. Miley was a bore. Her appearance was all about ME, ME, ME! She flaunted her body in ridiculously skimpy but not particularly clever outfits. (Makes one appreciate Lady Gaga’s imagination) Miley continuously patted herself on the back and tried to appear tough by talking about drugs and cursing like a rapper, but her raspy voice is the only tough thing about her. Her cringe-worthy pre-recorded segments were as dull as her live comments. It was an evening of desperation for Miley and embarrassment for her family.

Pop singers Rita Ora, 24, and Miley Cyrus, 22, left the Met Costume Gala hand in hand on their way to hit the after parties. Miley debuted her new hair color and slick no nonsense style. Her heavily studded cut-out dress provided more than enough extravagance. Rita was a bit more feminine in her sophisticated Tom Ford frock, but both girls LOVE to have a good time, so they’re headed for a fun night.

Miley Cyrus and her mom Tish went shopping together today but the mother and daughter didn’t hit the usual places. Not Barneys, Fred Segal, or Top Shop at the Grove. They went to the Studio City Smoke Shop! The store specializes in water pipes, hookahs, rolling papers – everything a family might need for smoking weed together. Don’t know what the modern mom and daughter purchased, but Miley walked out with a bag advertising rolling papers.
