Cultural Appropriation

JUSTIN BIEBER’S HAIR IS NOT A CRIME

Here we go again! Justin Bieber is flaunting his version of dreadlocks and undereducated people are actually complaining about “cultural appropriation” – a term we believe should be removed from vocabulary use. Despite the fact that Justin’s dreads are NOT all that flattering or attractive, (he’s no Future) he is obviously NOT making fun of any race. Fact is, he admires the African hairstyle SO much, he’s desperately trying to duplicate it himself. And IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY! There is nothing healthier than cultures exchanging styles, habits, dances, recipes… whatever. Adapting good things from other cultures makes the entire world a better place, and it is INEVITABLE in a multicultural society. We’d like to see all those “cultural appropriation” complainers move into the 21st century…

KENDALL JENNER AND THAT INFAMOUS GOLD TOOTH

Here’s a fad that didn’t catch on – with models, anyway. Back in 2017, Kendall Jenner was photographed sporting a big gold tooth at London Fashion Week. (It brought back the memory of a day, back in the late 80’s, we spent frantically shopping for a gold tooth on 42nd Street because we wanted to look like Willy DeVille) It wasn’t very flattering, but Kendall’s tooth started a ruckus at Vogue when they wrote about it. Some staffers labeled the tooth “cultural appropriation” (which is ridiculous because imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery!) Anyway, Vogue staffers turned on each other and accused editor Anna Wintour of insensitivity. A big fuss over nothing, right? Kendall hasn’t been seen wearing the tooth again…

STOP THIS “CULTURAL APPROPRIATION” NONSENSE!

SHAME on Page Six for keeping those noxious words “cultural appropriation” in circulation. Kim Kardashian was accused of this absurd “crime” because she wore BRAIDS, and a few lame people online complained. First of all, let’s get this straight – IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY! Exchange of cultural habits is a GOOD thing – it indicates that different cultures are appreciating each other. Few people are ignorant enough to think this is a bad thing, but Page Six (whom we usually admire) chose to create unnecessary negativity. White people in braids, black people in ponytails – it’s all good.

Above, While in Paris, Kim visited with Rick Owens flamboyant wife Michele Lamy, who seems to be wearing an inflatable fishnet dress, thereby stealing Kim’s thunder!

VOGUE HAS NO DAMN REASON TO APOLOGIZE FOR THIS PHOTO!

In fact, Vogue should DEFEND this photo of Kendall Jenner to the ends of the earth! Since WHEN is a white model not allowed to have curly hair? Exactly WHO is accusing the magazine of “cultural appropriation” – which in itself is an ABSURD notion. Everyone knows that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and being inspired by other cultures BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER. These online trolls look for something to complain about, love to stir up trouble just for fun, and should be IGNORED! Vogue – stand up for yourself – you did NOTHING wrong, and shame, shame, shame on the press for making this an issue and giving those ethically challenged trolls publicity!

PS Lets drop “cultural appropriation” from our vocabulary immediately! Cultural exchange is a GOOD thing.
