MATTHEW PERRY COULD WIN A GRAMMY

Despite being in the entertainment industry for close to 40 years, the late Matthew Perry never won any of the big four awards – Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony – but that’s about to change. As we previously revealed Matthew is to be acknowledged with an honorary Emmy – while that’s impressive, one of Matthew’s friends says he’d still want to WIN something. Now there’s a major behind the scenes push to get Matthew a posthumous Grammy for his audiobook recording of his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. My source says that Matthew is very likely to be included when the Grammy nominations are announced in November .

JOHNNY DEPP: AWARDS YES – JOBS NO!

Despite being accurately described as a “wife beater,” Johnny Depp,58, got an honorary Outstanding Contribution award at the San Sebastian Film Festival this week. Before the ceremony Johnny, who’s been griping that Hollywood blackballed him, ominously declared “Nobody is safe from cancel culture!” Naturally, women’s domestic abuse charities complained loudly that the film honor is disrespectful of abuse survivors. Film Festival members insisted that Johnny was NOT ARRESTED OR CONVICTED of violence against women and pointed out that the award reflects Depp’s cinematic achievements- not his personal life. Ironically, later this month Johnny is scheduled to receive another honorary award in the Czech Republic.

BROOKLYN BECKHAM IS A WINNER WITHOUT PLAYING SOCCER

How ADORABLE is Brooklyn Beckham! Her oldest son was Victoria Beckham’s escort at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. And the 16 year old son of Victoria and David Beckham is already TALLER than his mother who’s wearing super high heels! Brooklyn must be a well educated and self-assured teen, because he appeared at ease onstage and made a sweet speech while presenting Victoria, 41, with an award. She was recognized not only for her business accomplishments, but her charity work. So far, her child raising looks admirable too.

IS MEG RYAN IN THE TWILIGHT OF HER CAREER?

Meg Ryan has been called “America’s Sweetheart” in the movies and apparently the Italians love her too. Her boyfriend John Mellencamp was there to hold Meg’s hand while she was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Taormina Filmfest 2013 in Italy. It’s hard to believe that she’s already that far along in her career! She also held an onstage master class about her acting career.

JENNIFER ANISTON AND BRAD PITT WON’T BE BUMPING INTO EACH OTHER AT AWARD SHOWS

Don’t think for a minute that it’s an accident that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt (with their respective mates) don’t run into each other at an award show. There are several award shows a week at this time of year and Brad and Jen are both in demand to add their star power to the events. They don’t communicate with each other, but their publicists MAKE SURE they never turn up at the same event and create an awkward situation. Since Brad is nominated for many awards, he takes precedence, and Jen will only appear at shows that he skips. It’s all carefully orchestrated so Jen and Justin Theroux were able to enjoy the DGA awards.

JOHN TRAVOLTA AND THE SWEATHOGS REUNITE FOR TV LAND AWARDS

We have to give John Travolta a pat on the back for agreeing to appear on The TV Land Awards 2011 (airing April 17) with the cast of “Welcome Back Kotter.” Most break-out stars don’t want to look back at the shows that started them off in the business. The role of Vinnie Barbarino launched Travolta to incredible success. The other guys, not so much. But it will be fun to see them again. Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Ron Palillo, and Marcia Strassman are set to appear- Gabe Kaplan and Robert Hegyes are still thinking it over.

It looks like Jermaine Jackson HAS started to believe that HE is the next Michael Jackson! He picked up an award for his late brother at the MOBO awards in Glasgow and he’s pictured here KISSING the trophy. We’ve seen winners kiss their trophies before – but never someone ELSE’S award! It’s not like Jermaine EARNED the recognition. We wonder what he’ll do with it.
