Tom Cruise is moving from city to city promoting Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning at premiers and he is always surrounded by what looks like dozens of burly security guys. Tom likes to chat with fans so he needs to be WATCHED. Are they Scientologists guarding him? Certainly the “church” would have a LOT to lose if something happened to Tom. Last year, Tom started getting serious threats after he fired a disgruntled stunt producer from the set. The angry guy sued Tom, director Christopher McQuarrie, and Paramount, and started a rumor that Tom’s films are financed by Russian oligarchs. Judging by the number of guards around him, Tom is still worried about SOMETHING…

WILL JENNIFER LOPEZ AND BEN AFFLECK EVER AGREE ON A HOUSE?

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are lucky in love but so far, unlucky in house hunting. For the THIRD time in months, the newlyweds have entered and then CANCELED escrow on a house they were interested in buying because they can’t seem to agree on a LOCATION. Jennifer prefers a gated community like Mulholland Estates where she lived when she was married to Marc Anthony- because she felt safe from stalkers etc. But that kind of neighborhood can be remote and far from a village or even a coffee shop. Ben, on the other hand, prefers the friendly neighborhood feeling of Brentwood and Pacific Palisades, where you can walk to a park or cafe. According to a real estate insider, that’s one of the main reasons they’ve yet to purchase their new dream house. “She wants gates and security, but Ben prefers low-key luxury.”

In their big interview with Oprah, we were surprised when Prince Harry and Meghan talked about how upsetting it was that the Royals had cut off their security, and now they had to pay for their own. In fact, Harry added that they had never thought about making deals with Netflix and Spotify until they realized how much they would have to pay for their own security. Chris Gardner at The Hollywood Reporter researched exactly what the cost might be for the runaway royals, and we were SHOCKED. It could easily be 10 million dollars a year, depending on their lifestyle! That’s what Facebook pays to protect Mark Zuckerberg and his family – of course they probably get a lot more threats. But Oprah’s interview stirred up plenty of divisive opinions about Harry and Meghan, so they probably DO need expensive protection.

ELIZABETH HURLEY AND THE ANNABEL’S DOORMEN

This photo of Elizabeth Hurley (red dress) leaving Annabel’s legendary club in London caught our eye, not because of the lamp in her hand (a gift from the club manager perhaps?) but the DOORMEN leading her out. We have never seen security guards, bouncers, doormen – whatever you want to call them – dressed in anything but tight, black clothing to show off their muscles. These delightful flowery print suits are a revelation. No matter how fierce their faces are, the clothing is amusing. Leave it to the Brits to find humor in doorman apparel. Remember, some famous guys have been bouncers in NY – Dolph Lundgren at Limelight, and Vin Diesel at The Tunnel.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER CAN’T SPEND HIS MONEY FAST ENOUGH

The flashy boxing champ was seen arriving at The Staples Center for a Lakers game with one of his fleet of jumbo bodyguards. His biggest guard is 7’1” and over 400 pounds – not sure if this is that one. Floyd is 5’8” and 150 pounds. Floyd needs his security guards because he often carries around a million dollars IN CASH. After all, he’s the highest paid athlete in the world and worth 340 million. He loves to shop and buys so many shoes he often wears them only once and leaves them for hotel staffers. When he flies in his private jet, his security guys fly in a separate private jet so they won’t take up too much space.

We used to see a lot of him, but lately a Kanye West sighting is a rare thing. The National Enquirer insists that Kanye has taken to wearing a bullet proof vest when he leaves home because he feels like a target. He HAS increased security since Kim was robbed but he is staying out of the limelight. This weekend he launched his new Adidas Yeezy collection which attracted quite a crowd of shoppers – but no Kanye. One thing for sure – Kim is NOT wearing a bullet proof vest….

ALL EYES ARE FOCUSED ON SASHA OBAMA

Imagine being 15 and vacationing on the beach in Miami with friends – AND being surrounded by secret service! Some of the security people are in suits with earpieces, others are wearing sportier attire – but all eyes are upon Sasha Obama! We wonder if it makes her feel embarrassed or important – but her parents don’t have to worry about her. Sasha was conspicuously absent from her father’s farewell speech last week because she had a science exam the next morning. Her mother Michelle and sister Malia were reduced to tears by the President’s touching last public address. We wonder how long Sasha will have to endure her present lack of privacy….

TIME FOR SOMEONE TO CALL OUT KANYE WEST FOR WHAT HE IS

Seems like every day we hear more reasons NOT to like Kanye West. We think Anna Wintour should have ejected him from the Met Ball for wearing torn jeans to the strictly black tie event. In NOT doing so, she reinforced his belief that he is SPECIAL and rules don’t apply to him. We have long heard that he tells his wife Kim what to do and she obeys. Now his former bodyguard has dropped a few nuggets of information about his ex-boss. The guard was fired after speaking directly to Kim. The guard told The Sun that Kanye is incredibly condescending and totally self-absorbed. He doesn’t speak to or acknowledge his security staff. When they watch him at dinner in a restaurant, he NEVER offers them so much as a glass of water. Other celebs often have guards eat at the next table. People around Kanye indulge him and walk around on eggshells, hoping not to set him off. His handlers apologize for him. The security guy cannot imagine why Kim stays married to him. It seems that manners and respect are not a part of Kanye’s life.

BRITNEY SPEARS AT LAX: THE INDIGNITY OF IT ALL!

Britney Spears is one of the most famous pop stars around, but at the airport she doesn’t get any special treatment when it comes to security. She and her two sons Sean and Jayden had to go through two screening devices and something about Britney kept setting off alarms. She had to take off her hat, her glasses, and her shoes and became increasingly annoyed as she attracted more and more attention. But she kept her cool.
