Richard Grieco

LONG TIME NO SEE: RICHARD GRIECO

Whenever we run into Richard Grieco, we fondly remember him from 21 Jump Street. Johnny Depp became a STAR after the first season and he couldn’t wait to leave the show. Richard Grieco was hired as “the hot guy” to make up for the loss. Big shoes to fill, but he did so, admirably. Now Grieco, 50, is more of an artist than an actor. (Whatever he calls himself, he DOES need a haircut!) A few years ago he had a show at Galerie Sparta. Use link below to see his work.

RICHARD GRIECO SHOWS HIS “EMOTIONALISM” FOR JANET CHARLTON

Gallerie Sparta on the Sunset Strip was the place to be Thursday night. It was opening night for Richard Grieco’s collection of “abstract emotionalism” paintings and he drew quite an eclectic crowd. Johnny Mathis left before we got there and that was a HUGE disappointment. Mickey Rooney, of all people, was in a wheelchair but looked quite happy to be out and about. Mickey Rourke was expected but we never saw him – too bad. Presumably Richard (“If Looks Could Kill”) had consumed some cocktails or had sold a few expensive paintings before we chatted with him – hence the robust hugs. We asked if he was single and he said he had never been married but had dated among others, Madonna and Sharon Stone awhile back (who KNEW?) Right now he has a girlfriend but we never saw her.

RICHARD GRIECO PUT DOWN HIS GUN, AND PICKED UP A PAINTBRUSH

Richard Grieco’s publicist describes him as “a cultural icon” for his appearance on the 80’s TV series 21 Jump Street. We’re not so sure about that, but it is kind of interesting that the actor, 48, (didn’t he replace Johnny Depp on the series?) is also an artist, and has been since 1991. He has a one man show opening in August at the Gallerie Sparta on Sunset, featuring his paintings that he describes as “abstract emotionalism.”
