Reboot

WE TOLD YA SO!

Back on March 23, 2023 we told you that the main reason Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie rekindled their friendship was for their careers. Neither of them found success again on TV like they did with their debut reality show, The Simple Life. While the show thrust them into fame, it also tore apart their lifelong friendship and they didn’t talk for years. Back then we reported that they were scheming to work together in some capacity on TV again. Nicole and Paris finally came to the conclusion that the best way to duplicate their former success was to return to reality roots. They are currently filming a reboot of The Simple Life in Duarte, California, with the girls dressed up as Sonic Drive-in car hops…

KELSEY GRAMMER’S WIFE WANTS A PIECE OF THE ACTION

Kelsey Grammer’s wife Kayte wants a role on his rebooted Frasier! Now that Kelsey is back as Frasier Crane in the sitcom’s revival, which will be streaming on the Paramount+ network, watch for his wife Kayte to pop up on the show! Kelsey and Kayte appeared onscreen together on two episodes of Boss, his show which never found anywhere near the same success as Frasier. My insider says Kayte pops up later in the season and if the show is a hit as expected, her role may expand to a semi-regular…

KELSEY GRAMMER : GIVE THE NEW FRASIER A CHANCE

For YEARS we’ve been hearing that Frasier would be making a comeback, and now the reboot is actually happening and set to launch on CBS October 17. Our first question: Which castmembers are returning? Kelsey Grammer, of course, but David Hyde Pierce (he played Niles Crane) flatly turned DOWN his invite to return, and most of the original cast will appear only in guest spots. Frasier Crane is moving from his Seattle radio show back to Boston and not far from the original Cheers bar where he debuted. His now grown up son (born on the last episode of Cheers with then-wife Lilith) will co-star on the series. Producer/star Kelsey Grammer promises the new characters are highly entertaining. BUT…we think the most important thing missing are the brilliant WRITERS from the original Cheers and Frasier shows. Can newbies POSSIBLY live up to those high standards? We shall see…

“ONE DAY AT A TIME” IS COMING BACK …AGAIN?

An updated version of the popular 70’s sitcom One Day at a Time just MIGHT be coming back as Another day at a Time. The series was considered groundbreaking for the era – featuring a single working mom with two daughters, covering topics like divorce and premarital sex. Netflix retooled the series in 2017, keeping the title, but not much else – it only lasted a few seasons. (Costars Bonnie Franklin and Pat Harrington have passed on.) This time the plan is to bring back “sisters” Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli as senior citizens who move in together when their husbands pass away and kids move out. Hmmm… now it reminds us of The Golden Girls …

THE ONE ESSENTIAL ELEMENT FOR A FRASIER REBOOT(BESIDES KELSEY GRAMMER)

We actually LIKE the idea of a Frasier reboot! Keep in mind, Frasier was one of the most popular comedies of all time and won dozens of Emmys. The show ran on NBC for 11 seasons and wrapped in 2004. Kelsey Grammar, who played neurotic radio psychologist Frasier Crane, is THRILLED at the idea of bringing the show back. And it looks like his costars David Hyde Pierce (he played Frasier’s brother) Peri Gilpin (she played his radio show producer) and Jane Leeves, (she played the cute housekeeper) are thinking it over, but not yet signed on the dotted line. John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s dad, has passed away, as has Eddie the Jack Russsell Terrier. Hopefully a young relative of Eddie’s will assume the role. But most important – the brilliant WRITERS who made the show so special- will THEY return?

GOSSIP GIRL: SECOND TIME AROUND

Another day, another reboot. Gossip Girl is making a comeback and the only familiar voice will be Kristen Bell, the original narrator. See the new cast, above. (Wonder how long it will take before Covid shuts down production) The HBO Max show still follows the complicated lives of a bunch of privileged upper east side teens in New York. The original show ran from 2007 to 2012 and Blake Lively was the breakout star. This time around producers promise it’s updated – more gays and non-whites in the cast…
