WHY DID DEMI LOVATO GIVE UP HER PRONOUNS?

Judging from this photo, the answer is evident. For a man. Shortly after Demi Lovato announced that we can STOP using those ambiguous “they” and “them” plural pronouns in reference to her, Demi has introduced a new boyfriend- he’s a Canadian punk/rapper named Jute$.   Not only has she changed her pronouns for this guy (in the White Castle t-shirt)  but she is starting to DRESS LIKE HIM! When Demi was dating Wilmer Valderrama or her last boyfriend, Max Ehrich, she dressed like a pretty popstar, but suddenly she’s wearing distressed leather and plaid (and looking rather awkward.) Demi had a bad experience with her ambitious former fiancé Max Ehrich- she felt he was using her to advance his career, and they had a messy split in 2021. By all accounts, Jute$ is a nice guy, but Demi might be going too far to please him.

DAVID ARQUETTE: GUYS IN PLATFORMS PART II

David Arquette, 48, has always been an adventurous dresser, and today he took a trip down memory lane back to the punk 80’s. He’s wearing plaid bondage pants (we don’t see enough of those!) two-tone creeper platform shoes, and a Versace inspired jacket. He looks like he’s dressed for a night at his club Bootsy Bellows, rather than breakfast with friends. Somebody should advise him to ditch the grey beard – or at least cover it up with a mask!

PARIS JACKSON: EIGHTEEN AND ANXIOUS

Paris Jackson is asserting her independence now that she’s turned eighteen, but continues to worry her family members. She’s set to inherit millions from her father’s estate but shows no interest in continuing her education. Her older brother Prince is an A student now in college. BOYS BOYS BOYS are what she’s interested in these days and she’s picking up lots of habits from her punk musician boyfriend, Michael Snoddy, 26. Tattoos, piercings, combat boots and Mohawk haircut for starters, along with a “who cares?” attitude. She posted happy photos of herself and her man out of town for the weekend.

NO-PANTS DAY FOR MADONNA AT BILLBOARD AWARDS

It looks like Madonna was SO enchanted with the Punk Couture theme of the Met Ball a few weeks ago that she recycled her punk rock look for the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas. Will.I.am got an eyeful when he presented her with the Top Touring Artist award.

AVRIL LAVIGNE’S GLAMOUR MAKEOVER ITALIAN STYLE

Let’s face it, Italians are not interested in grunge, punk, or anything distressed. They treasure glitz, glamour and very shiny things. So naturally when pseudo punkster Avril Lavigne posed for the Italian Vanity Fair, they gave her an Italian makeover. The torn t shirts and stringy hair and combat boots were replaced by a sexy push up bra, stilettos, and platinum waves. We wonder what Brody Jenner thinks of all this.

FINAL DRAMATIC FAREWELL TO MALCOLM MCLAREN, THE ARCHITECT OF PUNK

Subversive punk icon Malcolm McLaren was laid to rest in the flamboyant style he’d grown accustomed to. “Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die,” the slogan from his “Sex” shop, was written on his casket. The funeral procession was led by a horse drawn carriage, and paraded through the home of the punk movement, Camden, in north-west London. Thousands of people lined the streets. Mourners included the remaining Sex Pistols, tarted up Adam Ant, and McLaren’s muse Vivienne Westwood. Westwood wants McLaren to be remembered as an inspiration to the new generation – she advised them to “Get a life – and do something with it!”

MALCOLM MCLAREN WAS THE ARCHITECT OF PUNK

We can’t let the passing of Malcolm McLaren go by without recognizing his immense cultural influence on both fashion and music. This “architect of punk” gave us The Sex Pistols and revolutionized the disco driven 70’s. In 1971 he opened his “Sex” shop on Kings Road with his then-girlfriend Vivienne Westwood and it became a magnet for style obsessed young people everywhere. On our first trip to London, that store was the first stop and it was amazing. (It was rumored that a girl had recently given herself an abortion in the dressing room with a coat hangar.) Bondage gear, red plaid suits, safety pin jewelry, and ripped insult t shirts. Malcolm and Vivienne changed fashion forever and inspired generations of designers to come. We wish we had saved a bondage jacket or seditionary t shirt – they’re worth thousands now.
