KIEFER SUTHERLAND HAS A FEAR OF BEING IDLE

The first thing we noticed about this photo of Kiefer Sutherland at LAX is the suitcase in his hand – it’s a bit of a relic – heavy leather and no wheels. The beat-up cowboy boots are a clue to where he’s going. Kiefer is spending every minute he’s not acting singing country western music with his band. Coronavirus notwithstanding, he’s on his way to Zurich where he’s performing for a week starting Friday night. We imagine that whiskey and cigarettes cough of his might alarm a few people on his fight.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND IS NOW A COUNTRY OUTLAW

Who knew Kiefer Sutherland yearned to be a cowboy? He has evolved from playing the US President on Designated Survivor to country rocker with his own band. Kiefer is now touring quite successfully in Europe with his new album, appropriately titled Reckless & Me. He’s written a lot of music about his own life so it’s highly suitable for drinking, and he’s well received in the bars where he performs. Kiefer says he’s never been happier and he’s getting decent reviews …

KIEFER IS HOLLYWOOD’S DESIGNATED SURVIVOR

The title “Designated Survivor“ applies perfectly to the series star Kiefer Sutherland, 52. As we all know (and he concedes) Kiefer is a bigtime boozer – who can forget that photo of him in a bar with his pants around his ankles? Kiefer is the first to admit that almost every bad thing that’s ever happened to him is because he likes to go to bars and drink. His “24” costar Freddie Prinze called him “the most unprofessional dude in the world” and hated working with him. Although he has NOT given up drinking, Kiefer still manages to get one high paying acting job after another and numerous beautiful girlfriends. Case in point: Cindy Vela, above, has been with Kiefer for five years, through think and thin -or should we say wet and dry. Kiefer has MORE than survived….

FREDDIE PRINZE JR IS OUR HERO FOR TELLING THE TRUTH!

How can you NOT love Freddie Prinze Jr for telling it like it IS? The “I Know What You Did Last Summer” star costarred on the eighth season of “24” with Kiefer Sutherland and made it clear that working with Sutherland was no picnic. In fact , Freddie “hated every minute of it.” It was Kiefer’s “lack of professionalism” that made Freddie contemplate quitting show business! Obviously everyone kowtowed on the set to their precious star Kiefer and he was a self-centered diva. Despite his legendary boozing, Kiefer showed up for work, but probably in a horrible state much of the time. We only wish Freddie had provided MORE details! We love the way he made fun of Kiefer’s height by revealing he had to take off his shoes in scenes with him. Thanks, Freddie – honesty in Hollywood is delightful!

Booze kiefer sutherland

HOW LONG CAN KIEFER SUTHERLAND GO ON LIKE THIS?

Kiefer Sutherland never ceases to amaze us. Two days ago he was partying very heavily at the UK hotspot Chiltern Firehouse (hopefully he kept his pants on) and at 4 AM he had to be helped out the back door by two security people. When the “24” actor was delivered to his hotel, he literally had to be carried inside. Keep in mind, this binge boozing has been going on for most of his adult life and Kiefer is now 47. How does his liver withstand all this? It is interesting to note that drinking rarely if ever affects his work – Kiefer shows up on time and prepared. He was photographed at the airport returning today and looks a bit worse for wear.

Sure, he LOOKS dapper, but Kiefer Sutherland suffers from “old boot syndrome.” The actor is nicely dressed for a stroll in New York wearing a dark coat and jaunty blue scarf, but when you look at his feet, it’s another story. Colin Farrell is another actor with the same idiosyncratic condition. Both guys have a favorite old pair of broken-in boots they simply cannot part with. Colin’s are his “lucky boots’ and he’s superstitious. Kiefer’s are comfortable and the heel height is just right. They both enjoy the fact that their boots are beat up and distressed looking. New and shiny is simply not as cool. We don’t know of any women with this disorder.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND IS NOW GETTING PAID TO DRINK

Now here’s a winning combination: Kiefer Sutherland and Jose Cuervo tequila. Yes, the liquor company has hired a functioning alcoholic as their spokesperson. (Never mind that Sutherland prefers J&B scotch with a Coca Cola chaser.) Kiefer has been a binge drinker for years and served 48 days in jail for multiple DUIs. Booze has lured the “24” actor into bar brawls, stripping in public, (click HERE to see the infamous pants-down photo) and assaulting Christmas trees in hotel lobbies. Kiefer, 46, survived with his career intact because he’s so darn likeable when he’s sober. And he never misses a day of work. Is it ethical for a liquor company to have an alcoholic spokesperson? Or is it a brilliant idea?

If there’s anyone you can count on for falling “off the wagon” spectacularly at regular intervals – it’s Keifer Sutherland. According to Mike Walker at the National Enquirer, the “24” actor got playful at the posh Petit Ermitage in West Hollywood after imbibing heavily at the bar. He started randomly grabbing puzzled people by the cheeks and pushing their faces into distorted shapes and then laughing hysterically at the goofy results. Eventually one irritated guy not only resisted, he threatened to punch Keifer in the face, and the giggling actor finally backed off.

Twins are an enduring source of fascination and we never realized that Kiefer Sutherland had a twin sister! Kiefer and his sister Rachel were born in London where Donald and their mother were working. Rachel is a post production supervisor in Hollywood. Kiefer has a sci-fi movie coming out in May called Melancholia – about the end of the world.
