PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED IS WORTH REVISITING

We came across this photo of young Nicolas Cage and Jim Carrey on Instagram and realized it was from a 1986 film we loved – Peggy Sue Got Married. (Named after the Buddy Holly song) Kathleen Turner starred as a woman about to be divorced who faints at her 25 year high school reunion and wakes up in 1960 when she was a high school senior. (This was filmed before Kathleen got that deep voice) Frances Ford Coppola directed the sweet and adorable story and he urged his nephew Nicolas Cage to play the part of Kathleen’s HS sweetheart. Cage’s performance can only be described as weird, but Kathleen got an Oscar nomination. Years later, when Kathleen wrote her autobiography she admitted that she wasn’t fond of Cage and accused him of having two DUIs and kidnapping a chihuahua while filming Peggy Sue. Outraged, he denied all and took her to court and won the case – she had to publicly apologize!

KATHLEEN TURNER : NO MORE “BODY HEAT” IS FINE WITH HER

Kathleen Turner, 60, has had her share of problems (arthritis, alcohol) but getting older isn’t one of them. We loved her in “Body Heat” and especially “Peggy Sue Got Married” back in the 80’s when she was a glamour girl, but Kathleen says it’s a relief to be working as an actress now and NOT be dependent on her looks. She says she has embraced aging and no longer tries to turn back the clock. Above, she appeared at the premier of her movie “Dumb and Dumber To,” in which she plays the love interest to Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. We like her attitude, but not her ensemble.

Kathleen Turner, 59, is currently appearing onstage in London in a comedy called “Bakersfield Mist” so she was a natural choice to be a presenter at the Olivier Awards there. Kathleen was Michael Douglas’s love interest in “Romancing the Stone.” She’s had career ups and downs as she dealt with rheumatoid arthritis and alcoholism. If you thought she had a deep voice before, you should hear her now…
