JESSE EISENBERG AND KRISTEN STEWART AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE

Just looking at this photo of Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart filming Woody Allen’s new untitled movie makes us anxious to see the finished product! It appears to be a period movie (late 40’s early 50’s?) and we’ve never seen angst-ridden millennials Jesse and Kristen play anyone but themselves. And the idea of them as a couple is also intriguing. Bruce Willis suddenly either quit or was fired from this movie. Do you suppose Bruce and Woody didn’t get along? Bruce can be rather bossy…

JESSE EISENBERG’S “THE END OF THE TOUR” IS EASY TO DISMISS – BUT DON’T

AG079454_06cut

The description of Jesse Eisenberg’s new movie is off-putting, to say the least. The film, “The End of the Tour,” is described as being about a Rolling Stone journalist following a successful author for the final days of his book tour in the Midwest in the winter. In other words, a prolonged conversation between an interviewer and his subject – and we’d never heard of either of them. But what a SURPRISE! Jesse Eisenberg is perfectly cast as the admiring Rolling Stone reporter and Jason Segal is a REVELATION as the quirky and sensitive author. It takes place in the mid-nineties and this movie perfectly captures a moment in time. It starts out as two smart guys talking and becomes unexpectedly touching as a fleeting friendship develops. That’s all we can say. This movie has to be seen to be appreciated.

CUTE NEW COUPLE: JESSE EISENBERG AND MIA WASIKOWSKA

Our favorite new couple of the month: Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland.) Jesse, 29, says he’s shy and has only had one serious girlfriend. Australian born Mia, 23, starred in the most recent and best version of “Jane Eyre” we’ve ever seen. The pair recently costarred in a comedy called “The Double,” which is about a man who freaks out when he encounters his own lookalike. Jesse was in awe of Mia during filming and described her as “wonderful.” Apparently these two off-beat brainy actors are now a couple – they were seen holding hands and kissing in Toronto. Nice.

JESSE EISENBERG MIGHT BE DELIVERING YOUR PIZZA

A friend of ours was indulging in a 1500 calorie slice of deep dish pizza at Gino’s East in Chicago when he sensed a stir and an elevation in the noise level. Actors Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari walked through the restaurant joyfully handing out breadsticks and pizza slices, followed by a photographer. It turns out the pair are visiting pizza places all over the US, promoting their new movie “30 Minutes or Less.” It’s a comedy about two fledgling criminals who kidnap a pizza delivery guy and force him to commit a crime. A woman at Gino’s told Jesse Eisenberg she was grateful to him for developing Facebook and he gently informed her that he just played Mark Zuckerberg in the movie. The actors posed for photos with everyone.

SET ASIDE YOUR PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS AND SEE “THE SOCIAL NETWORK”

For some reason we were only mildly interested in seeing “The Social Network” and were lucky to be invited to a screening. What a surprise! This movie is a revelation and an inspiration to ALL generations -plus it emphasizes the importance of a great education. It moves along very quickly with a realistic and smart but plausible dialog, and entertaining characters. We didn’t realize that Facebook started at Harvard as an internet version of a yearbook and became an instant hit before it spread to other schools and the world. The students and characters in the movie compete to be the SMARTEST – not the best looking or the toughest. The movie is fun to watch and truly inspiring – it could happen to any of us. The Social Network has the highest movie I.Q. of the year – don’t miss it. (In photo above, Jesse Eisenberg is with Rooney Mara, who landed the lead in “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.”)
