DID JOHN TRAVOLTA DERAIL KEVIN CONNOLLY’S CAREER?

Kevin Connolly has long aspired to have a directing career, and while filming Entourage he directed some music videos and eventually a few episodes of the series. When his series ended he went on to direct other TV shows and short films. Imagine his excitement when he landed his first job directing a feature film! Unfortunately, that movie happened to be John Travolta’s pet project Gotti. It was a GIGANTIC flop- Rotten Tomatoes gave it a ZERO rating! Poor Kevin has been struggling to find work ever since…

AUSTRALIA IS LOADED WITH JOHN TRAVOLTA FANS

Four bombs in a row have landed John Travolta,65, on the celebrity fan-fest Comic-Con circuit in Australia. His last film, The Fanatic, failed in August, but the biggest flop of his entire career was Gotti, in 2018. Fortunately, the Grease star just had a profitable two weeks in Australia at fan conventions – charging $500 for an autographed photo or $250 for a selfie with fans. In several cities he also arranged “An Evening with John Travolta” meet and greet appearances where he talked about his career and answered audience questions. Between shows, John took his kids Ben, 8, and Ella, 19, to Featherdale Wildlife Park in Sydney to visit the animals.

EVEN SCIENTOLOGISTS COULDN’T SAVE JOHN TRAVOLTA’S GOTTI MOVIE

But oh, how they TRIED! It took YEARS and many changes for John Travolta to finally get his Gotti movie finished and he hoped it was his role of a lifetime. But it turned out to be a disaster – critics lambasted everything about the film (including Travolta’s “gallery of wigs”) and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rare score of ZERO %! Scientologists remember the embarrassing failure of Battlefield Earth, the film they produced starring Travolta, and they vowed to do whatever they could to save Gotti. They advertised the movie with a Scientology inspired philosophy “Audiences love Gotti, but critics don’t want you to see it – judge for yourself.” Suddenly, numerous positive reviews appeared online praising Gotti – suspiciously written by people with new email accounts who had never written reviews before. It didn’t help – once again, crime didn’t pay.

JOHN TRAVOLTA’S GOTTI MOVIE FINALLY PREMIERED AT CANNES

John Travolta and Kelly Preston are at Cannes presenting their Gotti movie and it looks like he’s changed his hair color. It’s hard to imagine Kelly playing Victoria Gotti, but if the film is at Cannes, it can’t be bad. John actually wears some of the Dapper Don’s clothing in the film and Pitbull provided the soundtrack. John’s been struggling with this movie for YEARS – directors and actors came and went – including Lindsay Lohan – so hopes for the movie weren’t particularly high. But Travolta never gave up – the movie was actually finished a few years ago, but John insisted on the right distributor and that took more time. Gotti opens June 15.
