NEWSFLASH! SHILOH IS WEARING A DRESS!

Angelina Jolie brought five of her six kids to the premier of The Externals at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood and their are TWO things of special interest in this photo: First of all, Angelina has some sort of gold metal jewelry that goes from upper lip to chin. Is it attached to her skin? A new piercing? Don’t know. What we DO know is that 15 year old Shiloh is looking a whole lot more feminine. Yes, that’s boyish Shiloh in the beige abstract dress and white flats, looking pretty. Her longer hair is up in a twist and she has just a LITTLE makeup on! This is a BIG step for a “tomboy” who wore boys clothes and wanted a boy’s name just a few years ago…

DOES CAITLYN JENNER STILL ENJOY BEING A GIRL?

AG084275_03cait

Can’t help but wonder if Caitlyn Jenner will eventually decide that being a “woman of a certain age” is not much fun. Bruce used to watch his daughters giggle and get dressed for dates, or go on shopping sprees together. Being a girl looked like loads of fun. It is, but Caitlyn is no girl. She’s 65, and the daily ritual of putting on makeup and eyelashes and hair and foundation garments can be a drag. It’s HARD work. The older you get, the bigger a challenge it is to look good. Forget about FEELING good- Spanx and high heels are essential because photographers are everywhere. Does Caitlyn ever have second thoughts about her choice?

IT’S OKAY TO HAVE A SEX CHANGE IN IRAN IF YOU DON’T MIND GIVING UP YOUR RIGHTS

IRAN-WOMENS-SOCCE#18cut

Why would any Iranian man want to have a sex change? Surprisingly, it’s permitted there, but he would LOSE many of his legal rights. Imagine a country that resists gender mingling but allows gender reassignment! (We wonder if it’s legal for WOMEN also.) A man would become half of what he used to be. Of course he’d be veiled from head to toe, which would be convenient for the surgical process but he couldn’t show off anything after it was complete. It’s hard to imagine gender reassignment in Iran but the subject came up when four members of the Iranian women’s soccer team turned out to be men or some variation thereof. Now they’re all being tested.

GEENA DAVIS (“THELMA”) REMINDED US “YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR!”

Thelma-Louise-ps02ok

Little did we realize that “Thelma & Louise” star Geena Davis has turned out to be an adamant feminist – and she’s DOING SOMETHING about the under-representation of women in movies. Geena established the Institute on Gender in Media to track the statistics of how women are portrayed in media. At a very early age we discovered that most comic books were about BOYS adventures and movies for kids were also boy driven. Geena realized this when she had a daughter of her own. She points out that the imbalance of men to women in entertainment has been the same since 1946! For example, in any crowd scene in a family movie, only 17 percent of the people are female! Naturally, the majority of speaking characters are also male. And it’s accepted as the norm. Geena’s institute gathers all the appalling statistics and we love her for it. How can little girls grow up feeling equal or superior to men if they aren’t exposed to good examples? Cheers for “Thelma!”

“ALBERT NOBBS” IS NOT THE MAN HE APPEARS TO BE

The timing is right for a gender switching movie and Glenn Close, 64, (“Fatal Attraction”) looks surprisingly plausible playing a man in “Albert Nobbs.” The movie tells the story of an English woman who disguises herself as a man (Nobbs) to get a job as a butler in 19th century Ireland. The plot thickens when she is told she must share a bed with a visiting man who discovers her secret. There are many romantic and dramatic and amusing complications to follow. CHAZ BONO HAS MORE COURAGE THAN MOST OF US PUT TOGETHER

What kind of people are out there who resent the idea of Chaz Bono competing on “Dancing With The Stars?” We were shocked by the fact that Cher had to defend her adult child against haters on internet websites. Granted, Chaz’s desire to change genders is VERY difficult for most of us to understand- but that doesn’t make him a bad or undesirable person. His gender has nothing to do with his character. As Cher pointed out, it’s a brave thing for him to do – and good for his health. We side with Cher – and we can imagine how difficult it was for her to see her former daughter grow a beard. (Above, Chaz was seen leaving rehearsal with dance partner Lacey Schwimmer.

ANDROGYNOUS MODEL ANDRE PEJIC IS A HIT ON BOTH RUNWAYS

We remain fascinated by androgynous model Andrej Pejic, who successfully walks the runway in both men’s and women’s fashion shows. Since we told you about his New York Fashion Week appearance in five shows for men and four for women, he has gone on to continued success. Walking both sides of the runway gets him twice the work so he leaves his gender “open to artistic interpretation.” The 6’1” Serbian born-Australian raised Pejic has fortunately enjoyed total acceptance from his family. According to New York Magazine, he now ranks #11 on Models.com’s Top 50 Male Models list. And his mother does interviews on Australian TV about her son. Andrej has to keep his arms thin to fit into sample sizes and he already wears a size 11 woman’s shoe. He’s 19 now and we wonder how long he will be able to keep his pretty boy look.

UNISEX MODEL ANDREJ PEJIC IS RAKING IN TWICE THE MONEY DURING NY FASHION WEEK

New York fashion week is even more fascinating this time around because one of the top models in BOTH male and female shows is 6’2” Andrej Pejic. Androgynous Andrej, 19, who was born in Bosnia and grew up in Australia, is booked in four women’s shows and five men’s shows! This makes him the first model to appear in New York fashion shows for BOTH genders. In his private life, Andrej wears both men’s and women’s clothes. He’s not a transgender or a sex change, just a male who can pass for a female supermodel. In the photos above he’s wearing Rihanna’s Grammy dress in the Jean Paul Gaultier Paris show, and also appears in men’s clothing for an English magazine.
