DITA VON TEESE : A SMOOTH RIDE

Here’s something you don’t see very often- burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese can do more than slide into a giant champagne glass. She did some horseback riding in Vienna for the charity Austria for Life – and she did it SIDESADDLE! Due to modesty and long skirts, this is how civilized women had to ride horses, starting in the middle ages through the early 20th century. It was considered “indecent” for a female to ride like a man- in fact, sidesaddle riding and dance were the only socially accepted physical activities for women in the upper classes for centuries! Dita took to the sidesaddle like a pro, and it reminds us how lucky we were not to be born back then…

DITA VON TEESE: RECYCLING COMES NATURALLY

Here’s someone who is NOT basking in the sun like everyone else in Cannes. Dita Von Teese is often seen at the film festival but not on the beach – she protects that beautiful white skin. Dita recently finished her Glamonatrix tour in the UK where her skin was prominently featured. She should be noted for her recycling- Dita only buys and wears vintage clothing. The adorable sundress she’s wearing here is from the fifties. Last year she bought a beautiful turquoise Lilli Ann suit with fur trim that I sold on eBay— and she didn’t ask for a discount. She may LOOK glamorous and unapproachable, but she’s actually friendly and nice!

RYAN PHILLIPPE AND SON SHARE THE CHORES

Ryan Phillippe went grocery shopping with his phone-friendly son Deacon at Gelson’s supermarket. We often shop in the same store but have never run in to him. We did encounter Dita Von Teese there a few years ago and she was friendly as always. She recently bought a beautiful vintage 1950’s Lilli Ann suit of ours on eBay and we know she’ll give it a good home. (We don’t get to wear wool much in California) Anyway, back to Ryan and Deacon – look closely at Deacon’s face and you will notice his resemblance to his mom Reese Witherspoon…

DITA VON TEESE WILL SURPRISE YOU ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

Undecided about what to do on New Year’s Eve? Here’s a suggestion: spend the evening with Dita Von Teese at a fabulous restored movie palace in downtown Los Angeles. Dita invited us to this show one year and it proved to be the perfect New Year’s Eve. Arrive early because the lavish, huge, and amazing Orpheum Theater from Hollywood’s golden era is a joy to investigate (that ladies room!) Dita’s musical burlesque show is SO appropriate to the era and quite beautiful – not at all vulgar.

DITA VON TEESE: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Dita Von Teese is an old fashioned girl when it comes to Valentines Day. Her only marriage was back in 2005 to – of all people- Marilyn Manson. It was a huge fashion event in a castle with Vogue documenting the entire extravaganza. She wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown. They looked like a fabulous couple, but Dita admitted she had reservations even before the ceremony. After 12 months, Dita called the marriage off, citing disappointment in Manson’s drug abuse and infidelity. She wanted nothing to do with his money, and proceeded to build her own career. We found her response to recent domestic abuse charges against Manson to be elegant. She said she did not share the other women’s experiences, but fully supported them.

DITA VON TEESE JOINED THE CAST OF 50’S FILM “DON’T WORRY, DARLING”

Cast and crew on the set of Don’t Worry, Darling are taking all kinds of Covid precautions because they want to finally finish this movie – and we can’t WAIT to see it. It’s a psychological thriller about a restless 1950’s housewife (played by Florence Pugh from Little Women) living in a midcentury modern housing development in the California desert. She notices strange things happening in her community and her husband (Harry Styles with a vintage haircut) is hiding a big secret. Chris Pine is also costarring with Olivia Wilde, who is directing. (Good for her!) Any movie set in the 1950’s should also feature Dita Von Teese – above, she and Olivia are on the set enjoying their vintage wardrobes and hair.

GENTLEMEN PREFER DITA VON TEESE

If you’re wondering what Dita Von Teese was doing Saturday night, we’ve got the scoop. Dita was the special attraction performing her artful burlesque at the Gentlemen’s Club Whiskey Down in Manchester. (We’ve seen her act – it’s delightful – not at all lewd.) The late night club (open until 6 AM) opened a large new cabaret and Dita’s performance was a big draw…

DITA VON TEESE IS JEAN PAUL GAULTIER’S DREAM GIRL

If ever there was a match made in heaven, it’s burlesque queen (and lingerie designer) Dita Von Teese and designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Remember Gaultier’s sexy, S&M inspired wardrobe for The Fifth Element? Jean Paul invited Dita (who’s only 5’5”) to model in his couture runway show in Paris, and he named the gown she wore after HER. Dita is also appearing this week in Gaultier’s Folies Bergere extravaganza called Fashion Freak Show. It’s hard to believe that Dita is a natural blonde who grew up in California…

DITA VON TEESE IS A FIRST CLASS TRAVELER

Not many women can turn on the glam in a mere trench coat, but Dita Von Teese can. She’s probably the most famous burlesque dancer in the world, but also one of the Best Dressed. Dita loves exquisite designer and vintage fashion – she turned TWO of the bedrooms in her Los Feliz house (the one that stripping built) into closets. Besides dancing, she has multiple deals designing lingerie, clothing, etc. And she’s a self-made woman. This little blonde girl from a Michigan farm has come a long way…
