Just SEEING Pete Davidson SO out of his element at The Met Gala – and wearing a SKIRT- made the whole evening worthwhile. His Thom Browne outfit was original and totally unexpected. At least Pete resisted the urge to wear a TRAIN, which most of the women and a surprising number of men did not. Rihanna stole the night in her long train on that museum staircase a few years ago and designers REMEMBERED. Now loooong trains are a dime a dozen, making socializing at the party inside difficult, at best. (We don’t think clothing should interfere with having FUN!) Our favorite train of the night belonged to Lil Nas X and, sadly, the worst train was worn by Debbie Harry.

After all these years, Debbie Harry is not only instantly recognizable but touring in the UK with sold out concerts. During her shows she always brings up her current obsession: bees. She’s concerned about the environment and the dying bee population. Her latest album is appropriately titled “Pollinator.” She and guitarist Chris Stein are still best friends through thick and thin, but not longer romantic. They’ve been touring together as Blondie since they reunited twenty years ago. Debbie says if she decides to retire she’ll can sell the portrait that Andy Warhol did of her and never worry about money again.

Who could be a better choice to lead the annual Mermaid Parade at Coney Island than Debbie Harry and Chris Stein from Blondie? The event was created by local artists to celebrate the official start of the summer season on the beach. Participants are urged to dress in hand-made costumes appropriate to the theme – the result is a lot of scantily clad women and wanna-be women with colorful beachy accessories. Warhol collectors get ready. Debbie Harry, 68, is planning to sell the portrait Andy did of her in 1980. She was one of his favorite subjects and the art looks great in her living room. But Debbie has been complaining about how expensive it is to insure the artwork. She noted that another Debbie Harry picture sold for nearly 6 million back in 2011. So now the Heart of Glass singer is thinking of selling and using the money for her retirement fund.
