CHRIS PINE: SPACE SUITS DON’T DO HIM JUSTICE

Chris Pine looked so devastatingly handsome in an old school way, at the GQ Man of the Year Awards in London, that we HAD to share this photo. He won an award for International Man of the Year, whatever that is. We were horribly disappointed by his Star Trek movie (through no fault of his) but his recent “Hell or High Water” film MORE than made up for it. You must see it.

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER – DON’T MISS THIS MOVIE!

Hell or High Water is a classic American movie that we can all be proud of. It’s far better than we could have imagined. And this is coming from a WOMAN sick to death of all-male violent movies! But, good is good. How often do you find a brilliant and sensitive script combined with exquisite photography and perfectly cast actors? Who knew Star Trek robot Chris Pine was such a touching and appealing actor! He finally got the role that will change his career. His relationship with his bat-crazy brother, played skillfully by Ben Foster, is what life is all about. Even if this movie doesn’t appeal to you on paper – give it a chance. You won’t be sorry.

THIS IS HOW MUCH CHEMISTRY KEIRA KNIGHTLEY AND CHRIS PINE HAVE IN JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT

Does ANYBODY want to see yet another CIA/terrorism movie? Is that the only subject men know how to write about? We have had ENOUGH, but saw THIS movie because of Chris Pine. It turns out Kenneth Branagh’s script was better than most, and Chris’s character was earnest and likeable – he wasn’t a know-it-all. But Keira Knightley, as the obligatory “girlfriend,” gets on our nerves. She’s not believable as an American girl. Is it her English teeth? Or superior attitude? Chris and Keira were a bad match. Branagh wrote himself a juicy role as a Hitler-like Russian madman – kinda fun- but it’s not going to help international relations… (Above, Chris and Keira look like two wax mannequins)

STAR TREK’S CHRIS PINE AND ZACHARY QUINTO CANNOT BE DESTROYED

As far as summer blockbusters go, Star Trek into Darkness is not the worst. The splendor of Imax (definitely see it in Imax) makes it seem important, and the 3D is tolerable and occasionally noteworthy. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana are all appealing actors and add a bit of humor, while Benedict Cumberbatch and his booming voice provide the villainy. Of course if you enjoyed the thought provoking stories that Gene Roddenberry created for the TV series, you won’t get any of that, but the special effects are impressive. We don’t understand how fans could feel any kind of suspense watching prequel movies like this because they know the characters are not in any danger of being seriously hurt. All in all, the movie was less painful than Tom Cruise’s Oblivion.

PEOPLE LIKE US: CHRIS PINE DOESN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIS CAREER ANY MORE

#peoplelikeus #chrispine #janetcharlton

Walking into a screening of “People Like Us” completely uninformed (the best way) – we expected to see yet another lightweight romantic comedy, probably located in New York. What a pleasant surprise – it was NOTHING like we anticipated. After enduring far too many mindless summer action movies, we found one with a PLOT! A fascinating, plausible story with believable, unique characters. Well written, a drama – but funny at times. (One of the writers was a woman.) Chris Pine (SO good as Captain Kirk in Star Trek,) Elizabeth Banks, and Olivia Wilde proved to be real actors, not just pretty faces. And Michelle Pfeiffer is perfectly cast. If you like a smart, warmhearted movie and plan to see it -we advise you NOT to read a thing about it in advance – the less you know the better. Just go with an open mind.

RONALD REAGAN IS RETURNING TO THE BIG SCREEN

Hollywood names are being tossed around with varied opinions about who should star in the feature film of iconic President Ronald Reagan’s life. It’s simply called “Reagan” and the movie begins with the 1981 assassination attempt and flashes back and forward in his life. The producer Mark Joseph promises it will be nothing like the unflattering 2003 miniseries starring James Brolin. The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Zac Efron, Chris Pine, or James Franco might do Reagan justice, but we think an unknown actor with no baggage would be far more satisfying.

CHRIS PINE PAID FOR THOSE JEANS

“Star Trek’s”Chris Pine is pictured her walking out of a store carrying a new pair of jeans. He’s not shoplifting. On Christmas eve, Chris spent an hour trying on a whole bunch of jeans at a men’s store on Melrose Avenue. He decided on one pair he liked and bought them, but he refused a bag (for environmental reasons?) and that’s how he left with his purchase.
