We were struck by how great Roger Daltrey looks in this London photo at the age of 75! And it’s NOT just the fact that he still has hair! The Who frontman maintains that while his band was notorious for drug and alcohol abuse – HE was more interested in protecting his voice. We think the fact that he is STILL married to the cute sixties model he married in 1971, backs up this claim. We were surprised to learn that Daltrey is only 5’6’ – wife Heather towers over him…

THE REAL REASON R KELLY FLIPPED OUT ON TV

R Kelly has been very smug and superior about sexual abuse charges against him – no doubt fortified by the fact that he has triumphed in court before. But EVERYTHING changed after the Michael Jackson doc Leaving Neverland aired last weekend. Viewers learned exactly HOW an abuser (especially a wealthy and famous one) can seduce and entrap a victim – and keep the victim from complaining. They also learned WHY it often takes YEARS for victims to confess the truth. Jackson’s two accusers were so sincere and believable that many minds have been changed. Accusations against R Kelly are similar and he now KNOWS he’s more likely to be found guilty and face prison. THAT’S what set him off on that crazy tirade. The public is smartening up and his days are numbered thanks to that documentary.

DIANE KEATON: THIS IS WHY WE LIVE IN LA

Yeah, there’s a lot of traffic and homeless people here, and rents are high, but in LA there’s always that feeling that anything can happen – and it WILL. Just when you feel like killing the driver who just cut you off, someone like DIANE KEATON appears in the crosswalk and you slam on the brakes in complete delight.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE BRIE LARSON AKA CAPTAIN MARVEL!

It’s strange that we never realized how beautiful Brie Larson is. We remember loving her performance in Room in 2016, for which she won an Oscar, but we haven’t seen her in many other movies. Brie is actually attractive enough to star in the Grace Kelly story, if there ever is one. Beside her obvious assets, Brie happens to be a gender equality activist, and a founding member of Time’s Up. Now promoting her STARRING role in Captain Marvel, she noticed and POINTED OUT the lack of diversity in film critics and reporters – something that has always annoyed us, too. (Female critics see things differently!)

TINA TURNER: LOVE HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT

It’s so great to see Tina Turner looking healthy and happy. She turned up at the German premier of Tina -The Tina Turner Musical in Hamburg. Her marriage to Ike Turner may have been a disaster, but her relationship with German music executive Erwin Bach, is quite the opposite. After 27 years together, Tina and Erwin married in 2016 and she had a stroke three weeks later. He nursed her through that, cancer, and in 2017, he donated a kidney for Tina! THAT’S love. The Tina Turner Musical opens on Broadway this fall

OUR FAVORITE NEW COUPLE: PETE DAVIDSON AND KATE BECKINSALE

Guys everywhere must be scratching their heads, wondering how SNL’s goofy Pete Davidson managed to go from Arianna Grande to Kate Beckinsale – two exquisite and highly desirable females. Certainly both women must share an offbeat sense of humor that we never suspected. Of ALL people- Pete Davidson’s lovelife is now being chronicled like the Kardashians. Obviously Pete is not the loser he deliberately appears to be and it’s kinda fascinating. It’s nice that Pete bounced back from the depths of depression after the Arianna split – let’s hope he gets a grip…

KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR HAS A WAY WITH WORDS

Never in a million years could we have guessed that we would be admiring 7”2” NBA basketball icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as a brilliant writer. But his thoughtful essays in The Hollywood Reporter have repeatedly floored us. Most recently, Abdul-Jabbar wrote about “Hollywood’ts Addiction to the Myth of Manliness” and it illustrates his common sense view of gender and racial bias and how Hollywood perpetuates the backward attitude of “boys will be boys.” He points out that sports coaches insult players by calling them “girls,” (implying they are weak or lazy) without realizing that it is as offensive as black-face. Regarding Liam Neeson’s recent confession, Kareem calmly admits that most men have ignorant past behavior that they need to apologize for in a way that acknowledges the pain caused and promotes a more enlightened perspective. Kareem is our new hero…

SHAILENE WOODLEY IN THE WORLD’S UGLIEST JEANS

We’re pretty sure some high end designer gifted Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley with these godawful jeans so she felt obligated to wear them. Otherwise why would ANYONE in their right mind want to look like this? The bunchy waistline – the stone wash thick denim finish – these pants could probably stand up by themselves. Not one redeeming feature.

OUR SUPERMARKET ENCOUNTER WITH LUKE PERRY

Shocking to hear that BH90210 heartthrob Luke Perry, 52, suffered a “massive stroke!” He seems way too young and healthy. We had a delightful and unexpected encounter with the actor around twelve years ago. We were shopping at Ralph’s on 3rd St and walked away from our shopping cart to browse the produce department. When we returned we found a distracted looking man in a baseball cap and sunglasses dropping items in OUR cart. (Understandable – we grab the wrong cart sometimes too) We joked “are you sure you want all those Lean Cuisines?” He looked startled and laughed as he removed his stuff and we realized it was Luke Perry! He was very sweet and it was a fun supermarket memory.

TEFLON BOXER OSCAR DE LA HOYA DOESN’T EMBARRASS EASILY

In spite of some REALLY embarrassing scandals, boxer turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya is still a favorite with his fans. Back in 2007, cross dressing photos of the handsome fighter surfaced – he was cavorting in fishnets, panties, high heels and a wig with a Serbian stripper. THAT cost him a 20 million dollar payoff and the stripper had to return the fishnets, lingerie and heels, and keep her mouth shut. Oscar blamed alcohol and cocaine and he went to rehab. In 2011, he was sued by a female escort who claimed he dressed up in her clothes and took drugs and wouldn’t let her leave an orgy in his NY hotel room. In 2018, two women he met on a dating website filmed the naked boxer engaged in sex acts with kitchen utensils and they were accused of extorting money from him. Despite all, Oscar has plenty of fans and his wife is STILL married to him!
