This photo turns the stomach in SO many ways. Does it feed Kid Rock’s enormous male ego to shoot a mountain lion? He took the life of this beautiful creature for no particular reason, and he couldn’t be more proud and happy. He and his friend feel like big heroes. Killing the lion is bad enough – being PROUD of that fact is disturbing beyond words. How some men can take pleasure from such an act is unimaginable.

It’s sad to see, but then again, a lot of people don’t know that conservation as we know it today is funded almost entirely by the taxes levied on the hunting community–licenses, purchases of equipment, etc. It’s because of them that some species–such as bison, wild turkeys, etc. have been brought back from the brink of extinction.

To help you city folks understand – mountain lions can cause great damage to livestock, domestic animals and they have been known to hunt humans too. They are vicious hunters, it is their nature, not some sweet kitty cat just trying to survive. These hunts are legal and needed to keep the population in check. It is better for a deer to be killed by a hunters bullet then to be torn apart and eaten while still alive by a Mountain Lion.
